I'd have killed Shantanu himself - then no Bheeshma, no Vichu, no further Kauravas. Just end the dynasty.

Amba would have been happily married to Shalva. Ambika & Ambalika too could have chosen their own hubbies. Gandhari wouldn't have married a blind king and Shakuni would have been happy. Kunti & Madri would have married different kings, and had their own heirs, and Kunti may have felt freer to bring Karna in w/ her. Drona would never have found a pupil to humiliate Drupada, Drupada would have been satisfied w/ the sons he had. Krishna may have then made Karna his vehicle to bring dharam to the entire kingdom.

Agreed. And even if Draupadi was born by chance, she would have married Karna gladly, since now he was a Kshatriya n a great warrior. No stain on Draupadi's character for calling Karna a Sutaputra, n laughing at Duryodhan( since there would be no Duryodhan).

No lashing out at elders for being silent at her disrobing, no lashing out at Arjun for marrying Subhadra.

Draupadi would then have been one happy woman, married to ONE man, having all the qualities that she wanted in her husband.

No Vastraharan, no stain on character for having 5 husbands, no exile, no lashing out.

She would probably have been a much less straight-forward woman, n much more homely and quiet, just how men in those days, n some even in these days want women to be.

Just another wife of a great hero, like Vrushali or Bhanumathi.

sorry,not much 🤔... everything that happened ( good / bad / ugly) led to Kuru war where Krishna gave the world the Bhagavad Gita .. war itself was like cleanse for all tht happened b4 the war .. which was important to start afresh..

tiny thing maybe- wd have kept subadra awake during Arjuna's chakravyuha session 😊

One thing I never understood in MB is why ALL the Pandavas survived the Kurukshetra war, whereas ALL the Kauravas perished.

If Draupadi's humiliation was THE biggest reason for Kurukshetra, then why didn't Yudi (& the Pandavas) get punished at Krishna's hands?

How and why did the Pandavas survive the Kurukshetra war?

The Pandavas made their own share of mistakes with regards to Draupadi - first, by staking her, and then failing to protect her when she needed them the most. But Krishna gave a free pass to Draupadi's husbands (maybe on account that they were her hubbies or whatever).

But whatever be the case, if there is one thing I would like to change in MB is the Pandavas also getting punished by Krishna, in some form or the other.

If Kurukshetra is TRULY a war between dharma and adharma (caused mainly due to Draupadi's humiliation), then shouldn't EVERYBODY have died - be it the Pandavas or the Kauravas?
