US diplomats commit crimes including visa fraud.

US companies and citizens violate minimum wage laws.

None of that changes the fact that Khobragade committed the crime of visa fraud. None of that proves that Khobragade is innocent.

My stance is simple. All diplomats are legally bound to follow the laws of the nation they reside in with good faith. All nations have the right to try diplomats for crimes within their jurisdiction within the bounds of the Geneva convention. All nations have the right to defend their diplomats accused of crimes abroad. What finally plays out will always depend on the bargaining chips on the table.

Indian media is so foolish and honest. It doesn't know how to take a moral high ground and propound Responsibilty to protect doctrine 😉
The headline should have read- India follows its own due process to nab a US criminal 😆 All hail the Arms' act.👏

It is not at all surprising that the bullets were overlooked on US airport because the gun lobby wouldn't be too pleased otherwise 😳

There's little bit mistake on everyone's part.

Devyani - for indulging in fraud. Brought shame to the Indian Government. It was because of her foolish irresponsible behaviour that there was/is this unfortunate standoff between in the Indian and US govt, whose relations were already strained.
US govt. authorities - for showing their high-handedness by interpreting the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations as it wishes. It's claims that it had followed a "non-discriminatory post arrest legal procedures".. not so needed.
Indian Govt. - for over-reacting and childishly retaliating by removing the required security barricades at US Embassy in the capital, and demanding apologies from US govt, salary details of domestic helps of the US consulates(in India) etc... very immature, so strange actually.
Anyways, nothing can be said about POLITICAL or DIPLOMATIC relations. It's nothing as we see... much goes on behind this shroud of "outrages", "standoffs".
One thing I can understand for sure is that Devyani Khobragade and her family back in India are very influential.
EDIT : I am also sure that Devyani is being reproached secretly by the Indian govt. although it is putting on a defensive mask on an international platform.
