This logic never works in Indian soaps. Every daily soap wants sacrifice from girls. They r supposed to be traditional( in the sense wearing sari/salwar with heavy jewellery) , suffering all cruelties by so called elders, loved ones whomsoever and then not hating them...its bcoz that is wat sells.
I belong to a middle class Indian girl category and I guess its right, its girls who r always asked to make sacrifices compared to guys. SO the majority audience (which includes housewives, working-women and teenage girls) relate to the protagonist. Even if our daily-life sacrifices are not equal to marrying a guy (with 4 pheras) for ailing father 😛, the soaps exaggerate and glorify them. when they serve it hot with mirch masala and hot chemsitry ppl love it.
And about girl power, everyone knows there is a line between fiction and reality. IF one can't bear they have to stop watching. This drama is supposed to be an extremist love-hate one. So only who have the heart to watch torture are allowed to watch the awesome payback time. Have patience the characters will bounce back as always.
Last but not the least, this is not the only show where DD performed as a helpless girl. They r building a plot and she is doing her part. All those who claim to be her fans would have watched Geet. Initially if everybody started protesting about the track of geet being fooled by her groom and punished by her family, we would never have got a sizzling Maaneet chemistry. I hope you get my point. 😊
