In a recent TV show (KWK) she is supposed to have lamented - " Why do people refer to Abhishek just as Amitabh Bachchan's son. Why does noone call him Jaya Bachchan's son?"

- Valid point?

- With the mother's day just around the corner we need to ask Are mothers are given their due as far as their contribution in their children's success is concerned?

- People might personally acknowledge it- we have seen people always thanking their moms in their awards acceptance speeches- but does our society acknowledge the role of the mother?

Waiting for your comments!!

Sadly but honestly no, the society does not acknowledge the contribution of the mother as much as that of the fathers, especially when it's about the son as he's supposed to carry on the family name of his father's side. When it comes to the daughter and her home making skills, only then people credit the mother. However, exceptions are there, but this's the rule of the majority.

nice post doc. might edit later- sleeppyy... sowwyy :)

okay, my take on this - it usually follows gender path

Abhi = amitabh's son
Esha deol= Hema's daughter
Sunny = dharmendra's son
Soha ali- sharmila's daughter

it also follows the more KNOWN at times..
karishma - Raj kapoor's gran daughter
Kekta - Jeetendra's daughter
saif ali - Sharmila's son

QT...yeh to kissa hi alg hai!😆

But say Saif was a cricketer, then would he be called Sharmila's son still...and in Abhi's case both Mom and dad are actors...and popular ones at that...

Is Jaya bitter about the attention her hubby gets depite her being the better actor ( my opinion only and maybe Jaya's too😉😆)?

Well something does bother this lady ..😛 maybe the past keeps haunting her...😊

Generally, the parent (father or mother) whoever is more popular among the masses, their children are known by them. As AB Sr is such a big celebrity world over, naturally AB Jr is known more of his son than Jayajis.

Just a thought... child born to AbhiAsh, might be known as grandchild of AB Sr or Ash's son/daughter 😛 because these two are definately more known to the masses world over than Abhisheik. 😊

Hey Ashu.. The answer would be similar to the question someone posted about why women change their last names after marriage or why SLB uses his mothers name as his middle name. It is man's world and traditionally he is considered as a provider of the family.. Mother's role is known to all but never flaunted as much as fathre's is.

Personaly I feel awkward when I have to introduce my parents to my friends by saying meet my parents.. I had rather say meet Mr and Mrs B___ and I am their daughter...!!!!

I agree with subha di! Its not about the issue of gender but the issue of popularity!!

Naturally Amitabh is more popular than Jaya so abhi is referred as amitabh's son!!

If it is in the case of ordinary people(non celbrities ),people refer to according the side they know! That is if say some fellow chintu is son of Bunty and Bubby! Bunty's relatives call chintu as "Bunty's son" and Bubbly's relatives call chintu as " Bubbly's Son"!!

However Mother's place is divine and no one can argue that mother does'nt have any role in a child's life!!

@ Tally Ho ji: Ramkapoor's fan's call sia as Ramkapoor's daughter and Gautami's fan's call sia as "Gautami's daughter"!😳

Wishes,

Mythili

Chintu is Bunty and Bubbly's son......But why do Bubbly's relatives call him bubbly's daughter??😆😆 Even if they are the child's mother's relatives, they should still call him a 'Son'

Naughty! Very naughty!

When I went for Haj, I discovered that when we pray for someone, we have to include his or her mother's name. Apparently on the Day of Judgement that's how people will be called out because who a child's mother is can never be debatable, and hence the mother's name - to give the person a distinct identity.
