Why didn't YRF promote Bewakoofiyaan?

I recently saw the film and its not half as bad as the reviews made it out to be! (Actually to be fair, most of the reviews were average to good too.) It was a fairly entertaining film with some decent performances by the cast.

It would have been a semi-hit / hit had it been promoted well by YRF!

Why did they promote Gunday so aggressively while they chose to completely ignore Bewakoofiyaan? Both of them are their films, then why ignore one of them?

If that is the case, why make it in the first place? Or why not take big stars instead of Ayushman and Sonam? YRF can surely afford it!

One can understand if YRF doesn't aggressively promote Dhoom 3, because it will do well in anycase...but smaller films need big time marketing and promotions to sell!

Some films are made to restate losses on their books. Bewakofiyaan was one of them.

Most of the YRF films under production look to me in this category. 😆

If I am not wrong, they didn't even promote SDR, right? It was just a fluke that it did well at the BO!

I hate to say this, cause I adore Ranveer, but even Kill Dill seems to be in this tax evasion category!😆

They probably didn't wanna waste more money promoting it since film had limited appeal. Probably recovered costs from ticket sales, satellite and other rights. One of those projects made for break even status, I guess without much risk.

YRF seems to follow pretty unethical business practices...sort of like T-series! When actors do film with them, it only seems to benefit the production houe and not the actors so much.

In that way, a SLB, Karan Johar or UTV is a far better bet...whatever their way of promoting a film might be, in the end, they give their best to ensure that the film atleast has a good opening.

@jinama...Aurangzeb was one of the best films to come out of YRF...there was no reason for the film to fail except the fact that no one even knew when it released!

SDR Was Promoted Decently
Plus they released the trailer fairly early
Daawat E Ishq looks like another Tax evasion , but they have postponed it so maybe they do plan on promoting it.

I doubt they will dump a Ranveer film though, they will definitely promote KD and Byomkesh film

No. SDR was promoted a LOT compared to Aurangazeb/Bewakoofiyan. I live in India and I couldnt log into internet without SDR ads popping up for months. Maybe they didnt take the usual conventional route like going all damn TV shows, having premieres etc. But it was targetted promotions and promoted really well.
Atm YRF to me seems interested only in Byomkesh Bakshi and Fan among its under production films.
