After Hrithik Roshan walked out, Kareena Kapoor, too, turned down Shuddhi politely, leaving the producers in quandary over whether to go ahead with their dream project or not. Later Karan Johar announced on Twitter, "SHUDDHI will release on Friday the 25th of December, 2015... the Lead cast will be announced shortly."
Since Shuddhi is very much on track now, buzz is that this time it's Aamir Khan on Karan's mind for the lead role. "Karan is still trying to lock the lead for his film and has recently shared the script of 'Shuddhi' with Aamir, but nothing has been finalised yet. Aamir has asked Karan to give him time to go through the script," a source is quoted as saying.
Before Aamir Khan, names of stars like Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and even Shahrukh Khan were doing the rounds as the possible hero of Shuddhi. So who will step into the breach after Hrithik's exit is not yet known, but it's almost confirmed that Deepika Padukone will be the heroine.
The actress has reportedly even said no to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani for Shuddhi.
Shuddhi is based on the theme of reincarnation. The film will be helmed by Karan Malhotra. Would you like to see Aamir Khan opposite Deepika Padukone?
