Chapter 6
Manyata couldn't make sense of anything that was going on in her life right now, she didn't understand why she was so affected by him, why she reacts the way she does when his around, instead of resenting him for intimidating her so much, she was strangely unaware of her growing attraction and fondness towards him. His eyes there was just something about them that she couldn't quite read, ever since that day at the movies, he was always in her thoughts. He was so dangerously good looking, so different and so alluring.
She had just completed and posted her pre entrance theory assignment and sighed not knowing what to do with herself. She had chatted to jai earlier on who was getting ready to go on her date with Vihaan, her on and off boyfriend since junior school. His family moved cities a few years ago when his dad got a better job but now they moved back and ever since he and jai were stronger and more in love than ever. Manyata smiled feeling genuinely happy for her bestie who was such a hopeless romantic and loved vihaan more than anyone else, he was her first love after all.
Maria had gone grocery shopping and dad was , as always busy in some case or the other, except these days he seemed really distant on the phone, something was troubling him but he brushed it off everytime I asked him if he was ok and always kept the conversation minimal... Maybe he was missing mamma as much as I was, as time neared for my birthday it got more difficult for him as well...which was in 2 weeks time... not looking forward to it
She shrugged not wanting to think too hard as it hurt to much. Plugging in her earplugs and searching her playlists, she reached for her sketchpad and started to draw...

'How is she doing today doc?'
He knew the answer to that question, he had been visiting her daily and there was no improvement, her chances of recovery were slim to none. Dad just couldn't bear seeing her in that state and his visits to her became less frequent but it ate at him everyday. That incident that changed their lives and their fate.
While he listened to the doctor slowly, his mind wandered and all those memories came flashing back, their silly fights at the dinner table, over who she loved more, scrabble, the soccer games... It was you Sammy.. it was always you . He shut his eyes tightly blocking out the rest as he swallowed hard, the sadness and emotion void of his face and when his eyes opened it was dark, vengeful and angry... Very angry...
'You will pay for this... I will make sure of it'

She didn't know how or why but unconsciously her mind worked on the person who was playing on it, she sat in disbelief😲 as she looked at him in front of her, she closed her eyes and opened them again and sure enough it was the same, she had drawn him... Perfectly. His eyes, that nose, lips... It was like her mind had marked every feature of his and made it surreal. Removing her earplugs and hesitantly her fingers traced over his features and her breathing hitched as she battled to understand her feelings for him...😕
'Sweety.. I am home.. Princess'
She jolted up and pushed her sketchpad under her covers on the bed as relief and joy sprung through hearing her dads voice.
'Hey dad, this a surprise I didn't know you were coming back today'
It felt like ages since he had been home and she ran down the stairs and straight into his arms.
He welcomed her with open arms, his beautiful princess who was a carbon copy of her mother. Gently kissing her hair
'I missed you too sweety, I took a 2day break and decided I just had to see you'
She looked up at him with sad eyes
'2 days dad? I thought you will atleast be here for a week'
'I know princess but I tried, it cant be helped. Case got adjourned and that's how I am here'
'That's ok dad, im sorry I know how stressful it is for you. I wish you told me that you were coming maria would have made a special dinner for us'
And like clockwork maria walked in with 2 bags full of grocery and was just as surprised seeing Mr Singh there.
'Oh im so sorry the stores where so busy, I got late. I better put this away and get supper ready. What would you like for supper Mr Singh?'
'No need to apologise Maria, and its perfectly ok. Today we are dining out...all of us. Now go get ready ladies.'
'This is for you sweetheart' he handed her a boutique bag
Manyata smiled as she looked at him and the bag ' Thank you dad'
'You welcome , now please get ready i would love to see how you look in it'
His phone had rang and he excused himself leaving a thoughtful manyata and a smiling maria in the hallway.
Maria knew how much manyata missed her mom and her dad, their lives had changed so much yet she still kept that beautiful smile on her face and her loneliness hidden so well from everyone. It would be nice for them to be out of the house and even better to spend time with each other. Maria not wanting to spoil the father daughter bonding decided to stay in and have a peaceful evening at home making an excuse of catching up with her favourite serial.
'Come on Maria, I can record your serials and then you can enjoy..(but she was cut off in between by maria)
'No you know I cant afford to miss this episode, finally sweet shy Mia realizes her feelings and confesses to the handsome Logan that she is in love with him, oh those two belong together.'
Manyata shook her head watching maria go on dreamily about the popular series 'Dangerous Love'
'Ok Maria, you enjoy i am going to get ready'
'I just hope he doesn't hurt her, she is so sweet and falling so hard for him although I am convinced he has some hidden agenda'
Manyata stopped midway creasing her eyebrow and turning back at maria who was talking to herself
'Who doesn't hurt who maria? What agenda?'
Maria snapped out of her faze ' oh dearie im so sorry I was rambling to myself, I was talking about the serial, I was talking about Mia I hope Logan doesn't hurt her'
Manyata smiled shaking her head, ' Maria it's a tv programme don't think too much, im sure ur handsome logan wont hurt sweet mia'
Saying that she turned up the stairs and into her room

'You look beautiful sweetheart'
Manyata smiled looking at the expression on his face. He really was the best dad ever and naturally he had to say that. She smoothened the knee length polka dot dress down, she felt different not beautiful maybe a little nice. The red ribbon around her slim waist and her hair let loose with soft simple flats. You would never know she had a perfect figure underneath as she was always clothes that never suited her or that were not meant for her but this classy yet simple chic dress complimented her assets perfectly in a sweet way.
'I agree Mr Singh, she has grown up to be quite the looker our little Manyata'
Maria couldn't help but smile as she looked at the little angel in front of her. So simple. So innocent and so very lovely. She could see the awkwardness she felt around herself and knew it was only because of her shy nature and lack of confidence in herself.
Manyata blushed slightly listening to their compliments and said goodbye to maria as she hugged her and walked out.

'This place is great dad'
Manyata gushed over the beautiful ambiance and scenery at Bistori's as she put down her menu and stared out enjoying the feel of air against her skin. They sat outside away from the noise and fullness inside, someone was celebrating their birthday and had booked the upper floor out completely the music could be heard quite loud.
'I know and I heard their food is just as good'
He couldn't help but smile as he looked at his baby girl, she really has grown up yet still so naive and innocent. He also noticed how the waiters had been looking at her but she wasn't even aware of their presence. She had grown up to be quite a beautiful women unaware of the effect she had on men and her dad preferred it that way.
'So fill me on whats happening in school, and your boyfriends?'
'Dad...' she rolled her eyes at his boyfriends comment
'School is going really well, I submitted my assignment and I volunteered at the New Care Therapy Centre when school is off, oh yes and then theres Science Fair, Spring Break, and next week jai is coming over to spend the weekend, did I tell you Vihaan is back.. that's about it,' liar that's not all manyata what about the hottie that has the most amazing eyes, that's consuming your thoughts... STOP IT
'And with you dad, hows the case going? This one must be really huge, you have been so preoccupied and tense lately'
Manyata saw his expression change as he took a sip of his wine.
'Its quite a complicated case and just brings back so many unwanted...(his phone rang cutting him off)
'Im sorry sweetheart, I have to take this'
'Its ok, go on I will be right here'
She smiled and looked around, it was quite outside except for a couple on the furthest corner engrossed in each other, she looked around and watched her dad go inside and out of view. Drumming her fingers on the table in boredom ...she woke up walking further towards the balcony facing the night sky, and the beautiful full moon she looked up taking in its beauty, closing her eyes while the wind pushed her hair back enjoying the feel of the peaceful moment as she pushed her hair to the one side.

I knew she was there the minute she walked in, her aura walked before her. She looked different, very different in a dress, she looked heavenly, watching those car attendants check her out as she brushed away her hair from her face and smiled at them unaware of what they were really thinking. Assh*#les...
Ahh and then theres the man himself, MR SINGH, CALM DOWN NOW IS NOT THE TIME OR PLACE. Closing my eyes I inhale deeply and try to cool my seething anger, I opened my eyes to look straight at the most calming thing... MAN.. YA.. TA. Did she notice that waiter flirting with her as she handed him back the menu?😡 No she didnt... she is so innocent... Wrinkling her nose at something her old man has told her and then she speaks in the most animated way non stop her lips and then seems to be lost in thought about something but quickly brushes it aside and smiles... that smile. All I know is that I want to see her NOW
Taking out my phone I dial...
'Singh is here ... No not alone, his daughter is with him. Distract him I want to see her'
'Now'
I smirked as I watched the grave expression on Singhs face excusing himself to take the call.
Perfect
Unaware of my presence as I gained proximity, I couldn't help but marvel at her natural features taking in the wind in her hair, and not a trace of make up... the moonlight, ambiance.. and her innocence... F#*K, don't even think about shit like that. Stick to the plan...
Hmmm vanilla and strawberry or cinnamon... which is it? I need to taste to find out.. I cant help but smirk thinking about her reaction when she sees me

'Man.. ya.. ta' a deep husky voice whispered next to her ear.
She didn't have to turn around to know that voice, she would recognize it anywhere. She swallowed hard feeling his breath on the back of her ear as he whispered her name again causing her to shiver
'Man.. ya... ta, you smell so good. Its quite intoxicating'
He nuzzled her hair, inhaling her scent. His body pressed against her while she closed her eyes, she opened her mouth to speak but nothing seem to come out. WHAT, WHY. HOW IS HE EVEN HERE? ARE YOU DREAMING THIS MOMENT?
'Oh god whats happening to me? '
She covered her face in disbelief and worry at what is happening to her not realizing she said that out loud thinking it to be a figment of her imagination
Uv couldn't help but suppress his smile as he watched her cover her face.
'Why cant I get you out of my head?'
'Because you are not supposed to, I belong there'
'Great you are in my mind and you talk back to me and no you don't belong in my head , so enough dreaming now manyata'
He leaned down and brushed his lips against her ear... Turning her around to face him
Oh god, Oh god, his here, this is happening, WHAT, HOW, WHY?
Uv could see the mixed emotions across her very expressive face. Once again wanting to say something but closing her mouth and just looking straight into his eyes.
'Don't be so surprised man.. ya... ta. This is very real'
His thumb tracing her lower lip as he spoke not looking at her but her lips with an unreadable expression.
After much hesitation her brain finally registered her mouth to speak
'Wh.. I mean how are .. WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?'
It was then that she got a good look at him, he was in a suit without the tie, his top 2 buttons were undone leaving his chest exposed, his coat fitted him perfectly. He didn't look as rugged today but still had that dangerous aura around him, he looked so much older than her and so much more mature and so incredibely handsome.
Uv smirked as he watched her check him out
'You like what you see... '
Manyata flinched looking away quickly
'Look I don't.. I don't know how you always end up where ever I am or what is going on here but I need to go, my dad...'
He placed a finger on her lips silencing her
'Ur dad is busy on a very important call and don't think im following you, it can be the other way around maybe you are following me seeing as how lately I seem to spend a lot of time in your thoughts'
He smirked as he watched her eyebrows crease and cheeks flush from embarrassment.
'I am not following you, I don't even like... you'
That surprised him, he wasn't expecting her to talk back but he liked it... in fact she seemed more surprised than him at what she said
'What was that man.. ya.. ta? I didn't hear you clearly'
He leaned down closer causing her breathing to increase and her face to flush as he slowly removed her glasses
Oh no, not my glasses again
'You don't like me... Did I hear correctly?'
She tried to move away ' I .. I need to go, please give me back my glasses'
He grabbed her hand forcefully and pulled her back now she was trapped between the balcony wall and him, his hands on either side. He pulled her chin up forcing her to look at him.
'You are not going anywhere until you answer me... you running away everytime you see me is not because you don't like me but its because you are afraid of the feelings I awaken in you... I consume more than just your thoughts. I can see it in your eyes, I can hear it your breathing... so man.. ya... ta. I beg to differ with your thoughts... you like me...more than you want to admit... no wait its more than that, you are quite possibly in LOVE... with...'
Manyata didn't wait for him to complete what he was saying
'NO, NO. you have no idea as to what you are saying. I DON'T LOVE YOU. I don't even know you and I don't want to, you are intimidating, creepy and a bully. You don't even know me or anything about me so keep your assumptions to yourself. I could never ever be in love with a person like you...
And before she could say anymore his lips came crashing on hers, pulling her completely into his body and ravishing her lips with an urgency that frightened her, HIS KISSING ME, HIS KISSING ME, NOOO, she pushed as had she could against his chest refusing to let his tongue enter her mouth, making him bite her lower lip to allow him access. Tears stung her eyes and rolled down her cheek, He didn't mean to bite her so hard, but if he gave her pain then he would take it away also. Leaning down he gently began licking her lips, taking the lower lip in his mouth, soft, perfect and so luscious. Hmmm so this is the strawberry. He kissed her with so much sensuality and softness that he didn't realize when or how she responded to the kiss and hesitantly held on to his shirt tighter as he explored her mouth.
This felt so right manyata couldn't explain the comfort and pleasure she felt, she didn't know what to do, it was her first kiss but his mouth moved in sync with hers coaxing her and making her feel things she had never felt before. She gave in to them and felt her body come alive as he ravaged her mouth, her heart rate exceeding its limit and causing her chest to beat wildly out of control from how passionately he was kissing her. He takes her hand and places them around his neck and then they seemed to move of their own accord as she ran her fingers through his soft hair, the kiss that started so rough and fast turned slow and innocent completely taking over her ... not just mind... heart too. She knew it, she felt the butterflies dance within her. She felt something push against her and gasped as his hand pushed her closer to him, he kissed her nose, her eyes, hmmm so this is the vanilla her tears and then planted a soft chaste kiss again on her lips, her eyes still closed.
He had to break away.. god knows he wanted so much more right now. Her breathing ragged and chest heaving trying to calm her raging hormones, she slowly opened her eyes and looked up slightly fazed from her first kiss.. that left her breathless and speechless.. reality dawning on her as he stared at her intensely
'Did I hurt you?' his thumb traced her lower lip as he looked at it intently
Manyata had never seen that look in his eyes before so soft almost like he was concerned. So gentle, she shook her head meaning that he didn't and instantly his hand pulled away and that gentle demeaner was gone and a replaced by an unreadable expression
'Not bad for your 1st kiss, you showed me just how much you dislike me hmmm man.. ya.. ta' he smirked as he took in her state... cheeks flushed, look of shock and a glint of something unknown in those eyes, right now she looked so edible
Her cheeks flared up as did her embarrassment, how did he know? Gosh you were a horrible kisser that's how. But how and why the hell did I kiss him back and why did it feel so good, what does this even mean? How dare he steal my first kiss?
He could see her mind working in over time, she had a lot to absorb. This was all so new to her, well he had to admit she was something else, but she was innocent and melted in his mouth deliciously leaving a taste he had to have more off... sure she had a lot to learn and that's what he was there for now.. and teaching her would be so much fun... he laughed as he took out a cigarette and lit it
'Look at me'
She didn't look up, she couldn't bring herself to after what just happened, her head was down and he knew very well she wanted to get away from him now, he clasped her chin firmly that made her look at him directly
'When I ask you to look at me... I expect you to look at me... '
She nodded her head agreeing with him after a few seconds of an intense stare down, she couldn't see him so clearly but his features were still so visible... she just wanted to run away as fast as she could
' I want to see you tomorrow...
'Manyata, sweetheart are you there?'
'Meet me at the wharf, at 2'
'Dad'
She pushed him away and started to move when he grabbed her wrist, holding her back
'Please let me go, my dad is looking for me'
She pleaded with him as he refused to leave her hand
'Our conversation was not over, I didn't get a reply '
'Manyata, where are you?'
'Oh god, please let me go my dad will be here now and...'
'And what? Tell me what I want to hear and you can go'
'Uv please, Im begging you, I will be there ok, I will meet you'
That was the first time you she said his name, whilst she pleaded with him again and he gradually let her hand go, surprising her as she turned to run
'Man... ya.. ta... don't disappoint me, I will be waiting for you'
She gulped and ran not looking back and out of his sight
He puffed his cigarette into the night sky ... or someone up there...
'I know its not fair.. but you no what LIFE IS NOT FAIR'
He pulled out his phone and then looked at ' Her glasses...' and smirked wickedly

'Where were you...( he stopped talking as soon as he looked at her closely)
'Whats wrong sweetheart? Why are you out of breath?'
'Nothing dad, I just don't feel to well, can we please go ...
'Manyata where is your glasses and your lips, what happened to them?'
Shit, manyata panicked as she touched her lips and her face remembering ... oh god he has them, I was so in a hurry to get back to dad before he found me that I forgot
'Uh.. hmmm... I uh.. I was standing at the balcony and removed them and .. uh... it slipped from my hand... im sorry...
'No sweetheart, don't apologise. Its ok I know how scared you get without them, we will get you another pair first thing tomorrow'
Manyata gulped feeling terrible about lying to her dad, she never lies to him. IM SORRY DAD
'Come lets get you home, you don't look too well'
They hadn't even touched their food and he threw some money on the table and held his daughter close walking out
'Dad im sorry we didn't get to have dinner' she said as they waited for the valet to bring their car
'Dont be sorry, I wasn't that hungry anyway. But you young lady, will have a nice hot bowl of soup and then straight to bed, if you are still don't feel too good in the morning we will go see a doctor'
'No dad, its ok.. dad...
But he wasn't even listening to her
I am fine ... I mean, I will be fine. I just need to get some sleep
'Speaking of which let me call maria and tell her to get the soup ready'
Manyata cringed inwardly when she heard...
'Combination of all 3... your lips.. I tasted the hmmm succulent strawberry chapstick... your hair... sweet cinnamon... your skin... hmmm vanilla'
Manyata wanted the ground to open up and swallow her as she took in his strong cologne with a whiff of cigarette, she prayed silently for him to leave petrified of her dad seeing him.
'Lets go honey'
He dad got off the fone with maria and smiled as he took the keys from the valet thanking him
'Im reminding you again and you no I don't like repeating myself, tomorrow at 2.. you know where'
'Dad lets go'
They got in and she buckled herself, closing her eyes letting out a breath.
'From his tone of voice, I pity the person that doesn't make it in time for the meeting tomorrow'
'Huh, what are you talking about dad'
'The young man standing next to you on his phone, I couldn't help but overhear his menacing tone'
And with that manyata just sunk even lower in her seat and turned her head towards the window staring at the dark night...
