At office the next day, Jassi is listless and irritable. She finishes the work on some files and is about to ring for the peon to hand them over to Armaan, when she decides otherwise. "Ghar par toh Armaan se baat hoti nahin hai….wo Candy hamesha aas paas rehti hai….lekin aaj toh main Armaan se pooch ke hi rahungi…ki ye sab kya hai…."
She purses up her lips, picks up the files and stalks off to Armaan's cabin. She opens the door a little and is about to enter, when she stops short.
Armaan is talking to someone on the phone, with his back to the door. In a low, cautious voice he is saying, "Nahin….ghar pe nahin….ghar pe Jassi ko pata chal jayega…."
Jassi stiffens and leans against the wall, her ears all agog. Armu continues, "Theek hai….toh tum aaj office band hone ke baad yahin aa jao….9 will be fine….main Jassi ko koi excuse de kar ghar bhej doonga aur khud ruk jaunga…..great! Bye!"
He puts the phone down, turns around and rubs his hands in glee, GISing. Jassi quickly closes the door and walks back to her cabin, lost in thoughts. "Armaan aaj raat ko kisse milne wala hai….aur kyun? Mujhse chhupane wali kaunsi baat hai…….kahin…kahin wo Candy toh nahin….???"
Her hackles rise and she thinks, with determination, "That's it, Armaan Suri….aaj raat ko main tumhe aur uss Candy ko pakad ke hi rahungi!"
She prepares to leave office at the usual time, asking Armu coldly if he is coming.
Armu: (absently) Umm….Jassi, tum jao…main aa jaunga….mujhe agle order ki price list ek baar check karni hai….see you!
She goes as usual to the car park and starts driving, but a few blocks down she swings her car into a lane and parks it there. Then she walks slowly back to Gulmohur. The watchman is surprised to see her, but she quietly tells him that she is here to talk to Armaan about something important and confidential, and if anyone else arrives at Gulmohur, not to tell them that she is there. The watchman seems to be a Jassi loyalist (like everyone else in GM!) and readily complies.
She tiptoes to her office, making sure not to run into Armaan. Then she sits there with bated breath.
Soon she can hear impatient footsteps in the corridor. She opens the door a bit and sees Armaan pacing the floor, apparently waiting. Then he rushes to the entrance and tells the guard to send any visitor up to him immediately.
In a while, the tap-tap of high heels resounds in the corridor. Armaan comes out of his office and delightedly greets Candy. Jassi's jaw clenches. But she is quick enough to duck into Armaan's office before he can return to it.
Once inside, she looks a bit lost, debating what to do. Then she rushes to her old cabin opening off from Armaan's and quickly enters it, just in time as Armaan and Candy are just entering the office.
Back in her old cabin, Jassi is overwhelmed by memories of the times she had spent dreaming about Armaan there, of his barking orders to her and she readily obliging, of his jealous overtures to her, of the hug they exchanged on V-day….and her eyes fill with tears again. "Sab khatam ho gaya na…aaj issi office mein jahan mere pyaar ka janm hua tha, shayad ussi ki maut ho jayegi….."
She can hear muffled voices outside, but it's not clear what they are saying. She tries to peek through the window but the frosted glass does not allow her to see what they are doing. Finally she overlooks caution and opens the door a little way….just in time to see Armaan, with his back to her, hug Candy warmly. Candy looks pleased as punch.
Unable to bear it any longer, she flings open the door and storms out.
"Armaan…..yeh sab kya hai??"
Normally there is no update for Fridays. But tomorrow, as you know, is 4 May, a very special day, so watch out for a special episode of JJKN tomorrow.
