just spoke to Aseem Arora the writer of paanch on twitter and he said that he didn't receive the TRP's this time and he thinks they might not be great this time...
m feeling bad abt this...just when the show was declared a success ... isko nazar lag gayi..what went wrong !!! do u think the truth serum episodes have harmed it...i think this phase was very interesting but not necessary in the show. and the mishra part - that was too masala and all..after that trp's have been falling down...

this is not indeed good...they are planning a season 2 and only couple of episodes are left now. if it didn't pick up soon they might cancel the next season

I am telling you. The general consensus is that as long as the fight was equal between gauri and Roshni it was good. This too much Roshni and Nikhil factor is taking away the spunk. It's becoming insipid. And the story is deviated. They are showing every character in very poor light. Just take check and improve the story line. Please please...

I agree that Mishra's return was a little too filmy. And probably roped in to get that "OMG!" factor. My problem was not so much with the track but how they handled the track. They brought him back out of nowhere and it did seem a little far-fetched.
That being said, I don't think the track is the reason why trps went down. My general belief is that if people like a show, they'll watch it even if one track does not appeal so much, unless the track is REALLY bad and stretches on endlessly, which isn't the case here. I'll tell you why I think the trps in general are low.
a) The air timings don't work. 6 o'clock on weekdays cannot be considered prime time. The repeat schedule is pretty bad, too.
b) A lack of promotion. Let's face it. Channel V has, in general, a very niche audience. Those who watch the show also watch (or used to watch) other channel v shows. Those who don't watch channel v are not even aware of the show.
The trps saw a rise during the valentine's day track because the audience comprises mostly of teenagers who enjoy such tracks. In general, I think, the trps are not so great.
I partially agree with Drone. I think Gauri's character has taken a sort of setback. I am missing Gauri in action, too. I don't know if that is working against the show because Gauri has a pretty sound fan-base. But there is also a fan-base for Nikhil and Roshni, if the forum is anything to go by.
All being said, I think a good show should touch something beyond trps. The parameter to judge a show's success should be QUALITY not trps. Because there is something beyond trps. That is the connect with its audience. That somehow goes beyond stupid ratings. I think Paanch has achieved a lot beyond trps. The show has an audience even though its free of many things that seem to characterize youth shows in India. Typical, uninspiring characters, random stare fests, bad acting; you take any popular youth show and it's REPLETE with such gimmicks. Paanch is mostly free of such gimmicks and still there is an audience. An audience that enjoys the show for the story, for the characters, for the actors, for the writing. I think that is no mean feat. Perhaps they should stick to quality? Focus on getting details, tracks, sub-plots right and not worry so much about trps? So that long after the show is over, Paanch is remembered not for the trps it touched but for the quiet revolution it brought with it.

^i agree with every single word from ur mouth...however, i wish the channel people would think the same as well...
well the channel says that Paanch has been a big part of their success..and yes they measure it in ratings.

If they had shown gauri saving Roshni, it would have made sense. Nikhil arriving there with broken bones was a very lame thing. Also they shd let paanch be just ragging and not show them as hardened criminals who have no remorse. They are just college kids. Also if Gauti is the real culprit and he is some psycho character then don't show paanch to be criminals and don't turn Roshni into a criminal. It's not only me who is a die hard gauri fan. There are loads of them. She lights up the drama. I don't want to watch the show if in every episode, Roshni is fooling paanch and when she is about to be caught nikhil appears.
For the story has to be fauthentic and believable. The poorest of poor will not let their daughter go through so much and not react. And I don't buy that little sister in one year has grown intelligent and brave, which she couldn't wen her sister was narrating to her that she is going through hell.

Well, I never believe in this trp system.
But, I'm a HUGE Gauri fan. The young girl playing her character is doing a fan-freaking-tastic work. But, I'm not happy the way the CVs have sidelined her character in the last few episodes.
