Both Cougar Town and Supernatural
are now without a UK broadcaster.
In a post on their website, Sky Living
today confirmed that they would not
be airing future seasons of either
series.
"We can confirm that Sky Living will
not be showing the new series of
Cougar Town or Supernatural", the
post explains. "We understand fans
of the show may be disappointed by
this news and we want to reassure
you that we appreciate your passion
for TV, Sky Living and these shows in
particular."
The decisions had not been entirely
unexpected, with no concrete word
on the fate of Cougar Town since the
show moved from ABC to TBS state-
side in 2012, while Supernatural's
most recent season had been aired
in double bills 9 months after it
began airing in the United States.
With the decision, the two join fellow
acquisition Teen Wolf, which was
dropped by Sky Living just ahead of
last year's LA Screenings
.
The timing of the decision,
specifically in regards to
Supernatural, could prove
problematic for the series'
international distributors. A
Supernatural spin-off, Supernatural:
Bloodlines , is deep in development at
The CW and is considered a shoo-in
for a series pick up. Should it get
said order, Warner Bros. will be in
the unenviable position of trying to
find a UK home for both the parent
series and the new spin-off.
