There are very few in the filmi industry who care for their friendship. Shah Rukh Khan is one who is known to maintain his friendship at all costs. Akshay Kumar, better known as "Khilari ", isn't far behind. That's why he has been taking care of the family of his deceased business manager Vikas Bali. Akshay has been trying to get a lead offer for Bali's son Vedant and thus launch him in Bollywood. Akshay has suggested to Baba Arts executive director Rakesh Upadhyaya to involve Vedant in their two-hero movie. Besides, Akshay has offered to participate in the movie without any fee. There is every likelihood that Rakesh may soon make a movie on two brothers -Akshay and Vedant! Not only that, the actor has graciously returned the advances to three parties that his late secretary had accepted on his behalf; the reason being some confusion about dates. This is about his personal life.

In his professional life, he has had quite a few box office hits. Akshay says that he isn't any longer interested in doing formula roles. He said this after wrapping up the shooting schedule of Priyadarshan's next movie 'Bhool Bhulaiya' at Jaipur in Rajasthan.

He is doing the role of a psychiatrist in 'Bhool Bhulaiya' which is a psycho-thriller. Akshay adds that he isn't too happy to do 'heroic' roles. "Initially, I did quite a few movies in which I was not sure what I was doing. I just accepted roles that came my way like every actor who wants to establish himself in Hindi movies. Since I am uncomfortable now I can accept roles where I am asked to do the 'Save heroine from villain kind of roles."

Akshay continues, "I think I have reached at this stage of my career only because I had faith in myself and my abilities. I have never been part of so called camps. He says that he does not belong to any "camp" but still managed to get a variety of roles. I have carved a niche for myself. It is easy to say because of certain camps or some people, one could not make it. But, I feel hard work with some luck though, one can always survive. Forget any field you are in", he elaborates. He clarifies that he does not mind doing a cameo appearance in the film provided the character is strong. He adds, "Let me tell you the role I did in Rajkumar Santoshi's 'Khaki' was not actually written for me. It was to be done by Paresh Rawal. But, when it was offered to me I grabbed it because it was a strong character."
