women vs dowry

why do some people usually give themselves in by giving dowry to the groom and i am talking about those avaricious grooms who demand more than the brides' parents' reach. is the unmarried daughters happiness more important or giving their daughter away along with dowry more important. how can you guarantee that the daughter will be happy after giving the dowry. why it matters to in laws how much the bride is bringing? why the girl is always looked as a means of trade along with dowry. i have heard stories of how in laws demand so much, only if parents stopped saying no to them especially if they cannot afford and letting their daughters stay unmarried, this atrocious system of milking brides parents especially the poor ones can be stopped.

Excellent post Raunaq...Sigh, so much has been said and heard on this issue..Its a plague that is eating the society and like you said, should be stopped.....

how can the grooms parents cover the cost of the grooms upbringing otherwise and also the cost of taking care of additional person the Daughter in law...😉

Dowry by itself is not bad.. but harrassment in name of dowry is bad...😊

Yeah right..The groom is a responsibility of the Bride's parents...Groom's parents feeding the bakra I mean the groom, so that in future he can be sold at a higher price..The well fed, the better u see..Lucky Bride and her parents, they get to buy what they want- its just that they exceed their budget most of the times

The whole society works like this.. How much can we oppose tell me...it is what it is...all we can say is there shouldnt be harrassment and death due to dowry....😊

We can, by not giving and taking dowry...Change doesn't happen overnight...

Why would I not take dowry if the girls father wishes to give out of his own will...? Why are we calling something bad because someone uses it badly.. We dont stop using kinves because knives can hurt do we?😊

You take it because it was offered, but your friend may feel the peer pressure and now he too will force his future in-laws to shell out that ransom

How are we going to stop it then???Just doing the lip service that Dowry deaths should not happen, isn't quite a solution for the problem... 😃
