Besides, there was saasuma Kunti there, so all the queens could have happily done all sorts of things for her - making her tea, giving her body massages, preparing for her pujas, vaghara vaghara...

Also, once they had sons, that too would have kept them busy.

ok it looked like yours so I quoted.. one in blue.. I think it will be all their spousal duties all the years.. Draupadi making no difference except for that they have one more co wife once in five years..

If we're discussing Indraprastha, let's do a sautan count for Draupadi - just the ones in town:
  • Yudisthir: Devika
  • Bhima: Valandhara
    • Hidimba was not allowed there
  • Arjun: Subhadra
    • Uloopi, Chitrangada not there
  • Nakul: Karenamati
    • He married her after the Rajasuya yagna and the death of her brother
  • Sahadev: Vijaya & Jarasandha's daughter
    • He married the latter after her father was killed
So chances were that whenever Draupadi was w/ anybody, there was just 1 sautan who would be doing the other duties. And once they all had kids, that would probably be their only priority. Until then, they'd all be busy serving Kunti

Now, after the Ashwamedha yagna, Uloopi & Chitrangada too joined them, but at this stage, after the war, I doubt that in their unhappiness, conjugal bliss was on anybody's mind. All their sons were dead, so the only thing any of them would be doing would be serving Gandhari or Kunti - an activity which ended after 15 years, since they went into exile. Only other activity then - helping a widowed Uttara raise little Parikshit.

My question is.. why do you use the word 'other duties'? Why wont Draupadi and Devika together serve Yudishtar that year? Why should Devika leave Yudi to Draupadi and go look after her Kids or Kunti? why not all together in her level of time management

In Indraprastha, I'm assuming that what's being discussed are conjugal rights - when Draupadi is w/ any particular hubby, the other wives step aside for that year and waive their conjugal rights. So they then go to their other duties - taking care of Kunti, kids, et al.

Yudisthir's case is a bit special, since Draupadi was also the queen of Indraprastha, which Devika wasn't. So they wouldn't be doing equal duties to him. In Vana Parva, Draupadi described to Satyabhama what she did as a queen - like ensuring that the horses were healthy. I think one of the Draupadi ATs has it.

So let's take Draupadi w/ Bhima & Valandhara. If Draupadi had her year w/ Bhima, then Valandhara would either be serving Kunti, or if it was later after she had Sarvaga, she'd be busy w/ him. Also, once Satsoma was born, if it was Draupadi's time w/ Bhima, then Valandhara would presumably take care of both Sarvaga and Satsoma.

Post war, you'd be right - there would be no distinctions in their duties: all their kids were dead, so only thing they could do was serve Kunti & Gandhari, help Uttara and that's it. Draupadi, as queen, would have had more responsibilities, as mentioned above.

I understand your point.. but per what u say it seems like Draupadi never had the experience of sharing her husbands.. she was more or less souten free.. which does not sound right from the other wife's view.. isnt that injustice to them? The unshared wife will not have her husband's company for one year because he has to be dedicated husband for his another wife? not fair.. and sons can be taken care by the maids.. they would not disturb their parents..

Each other wife will get 4/5 years w/ their hubbies, in fact exclusive to themselves. Also, until the Rajasuya yagna, Nakul probably had only Draupadi as his wife. So whenever Draupadi was w/ the others, he was a bachelor.

So it wouldn't be unfair. Like say, continuing w/ Bhima's example, Valandhara gives up a year w/ Bhima since it's Draupadi's turn w/ him. So yeah, that year is hard, but then after that, the next 4 years, she'd have Bhima all to herself. No sharing him w/ anyone. She'd probably have had Sarvaga after Satsoma's birth.

Even in Arjun's case - Uloopi was a one night stand (although how did she then become pregnant ❓ and Chitrangada's was just for the time he was in Manipura during his exile. Once he was back, his only wife, aside from Draupadi, was Subhadra. So even Subhadra would have had 4/5 years w/ him.

Only case I can think of is Mr Poorvabhas - Sahadev - the daughters of Dyutmat and Jarasandha would be competing over him all the time. Even that was for a relatively brief period - Jarasandha's daughter married him, then he went off on the Rajasuya conquests, after the yagna some months/years❓ and then the game of dice & exile.

So it averages out rather cleanly, w/ Draupadi getting full time enjoyment, for want of a better term, and Devika, Valandhara, Subhadra, Karenamati, Vijaya & Jarasandha's daughter getting their husbands 80% of the time (40% for Sahadev's wives).

Only one who got a raw deal was Hidimbi. Yeah, she had Ghatotkacha w/ her throughout his life, but even after his death, she didn't get to join Bhima. Unlike Uloopi, who did get to join Arjun after the war.

yes that is why i do not pity draupadi for marrying 5 husband...comparing to other woman of those times, all had to share their husband attention and love with other woman..but in case of draupadi she always had an upperhand to all her huaband and all her husband loved and respected her and waited to serve her
..i feel bad for draupadi bcoz of the dice game and its after effect...

80% is still unfair 😭 while Draupadi enjoyed 100%.. will leave that there anyway..
