So this post stems from my utter discomfort and ridiculousness of the several posts on this forum.
Starting from Aaliya showing her midriff to her not listening to her husband being treated as a sin, her clothing at that party and now a simple comforting hug between two people who consider each other brother and sister. It's as if most people here are just waiting to pounce at any chance they get to complain about portrayal of religion and culture.
Thus, a simple reminder to each and everyone of those people who take offence on everything - THIS SHOW IS PURELY FICTITIOUS. The idea behind a daily soap is not about preaching or showcasing a particular religion or culture. No where has is been stated that BI is a religious show. It is simply a television show with a muslim background. And not to forget that there is something called creative liberty.
Television is a form of entertainment, kindly keep that in mind. As far as staying true to religion and culture stands - I respect your attitude towards following your religion, but not everyone follows it the way you do. Taking offence on everything everyone does and judging people for the same is not only contemptuous but also despicable.
The motive of the show is to provide entertainment and romance between the characters - which is the major plot line. If you start protesting to everything, you are simply irritating the makers and the fellow viewers like me.
I understand that Aaliya's family has been said to be religious, and if that offends you, so be it. Television shows usually do that - every one wants a third time married guy, a woman married 4 times, children are mere puppets, etc etc. South Indians simply eat idli-sambar and say "aiyoo", Punjabis eat chicken and do bhangra at any moment. Those are stereotypes. It is the way it is. You don't see anyone protesting about that, do you? But every other day, there are posts stating this is a sin, or that is a sin. If you want to follow religion to the tee, please stop watching television and surfing the internet.
Please, and I repeat, please, refrain from making really sad posts, which are stretched to the point of ridiculousness, after every single episode. Neither the makers, nor I, wish to offend anyone, but THIS IS FICTIONAL guys, and we both just want to enjoy it. I don't really care if its Muslim, Hindu or Christian - I am watching it because it's a love story!
P.S : Excuse my rant, I'm sorry if people are offended, but there's only so much you can stretch a rubber band!
