If the trade buzz is to be believed, the cool and dashing Ranveer Singh is the top contender to play Bajirao in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Bajirao Mastani, based on the epic love story of Bajirao and his second wife Mastani.
Even though the names of big actors like Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan have been doing the rounds, sources claim that Ranveer Singh is the front-runner now.
"He is in advance talks for the film. Till things are finalised we cannot say anything," Ranveer Singh's spokesperson is quoted as saying. Buzz also has it that the actor might shave his hair off to play Bajirao, a renowned Peshwa.
There is still confusion about the lead actor of Bajirao Mastani, but it seems the director has finalized his heroine, and who else than the stunning Deepika Padukone. From what we hear Deepika might play Mastani in the movie.

The film will narrate the love story of Peshwa Bajirao and his second wife Mastani, who was a Muslim. Their relationship was also the reason of much rift in the orthodox Marathi society of that time and led to a major crisis within the royal Peshwa family. Bajirao was an eminent general who served as Peshwa. He is recognized as one of the most influential peshwas of the early 17th century.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is living with the dream of making this movie for the last 15 years. He first conceptualized it with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai.
With Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone playing on-screen lovers yet again in his film, Sanjay might just deliver another big hit.
