It was raining heavily on a night in November at Delhi. People say such untimely rain is ominous. A lone stumbling figure came out of the pub at Mehrauli, and struggled a bit to reach the car park and find his car. Unlocking his car, he pulled open the door and crawled in the driver seat. After shutting the door, he breathed in heavily and placed his hand over the steering wheel. His vision was clouded, more because of the tears filling his eyes than the alcohol imbibed in his blood. Few moments passed in silence before he broke down again, his forehead touching the steering wheel and hands clasping it tight on both sides. "I am sorry Rishu, maaf kar de mujhe please. Please Rishu, please," he sobbed.

The landline phone kept on buzzing incessantly at the middle of the night. Both Madhu and Radha came running out of their respective bedrooms to pick up the phone in the living room. It was quite unusual to receive a call in the landline, that too at such late hour in the night. "Phone uthao Madhu," asked Radha and looked at her daughter-in-law curiously. "Hello, who is it?" asked Madhu. There were few moments of silence for Radha as the person spoke to Madhu, followed by a loud gasp and a cry from Madhu. "Kya hua beta? Madhu, what happened? Tell me!!" exclaimed Radha. "Ma...Ma...Amit...," Madhu struggled to speak coherently. "What happened to Amit? Speak up Madhu!!" "He is no more, Ma..." cried out Madhu.
"There is an urgent message for the Chief Officer," said the seaman and forwarded the hand-written note to the Second Officer Mukund. Mukund hurried inside the engine room where the Chief Officer Rishabh Kundra was examining the daily deck operations report. "Chief, an urgent message for you," told Mukund as he passed on the note. Rishabh read the note and a deep frown developed in his forehead. "Chief, is everything alright?" asked Mukund. For the first time in the voyage he noticed an expression of despair in Rishabh's face. "I have to go home, today itself," murmured Rishabh as he crushed the note in his hand.
