Friends, I promised myself that I would not make this post but it seems my friend Ms. Kayanat deemed it otherwise and who am I to fight my all powerful friend. So here it is - A different take on my 'Much Malighned Tedha Shahenshah'. Lets get started (Begin at the beggining as they say)
1. TE maligned when he supposedly insulted his Mirchi at DEK by making Khaas Tofha sit by him -As I have already said Jodha brought this on herself but with some new insight I will add to this - Jodha till this point had neither accepted TE as her husband nor Agra as her home nor was she ready to take her place as wife and its becoz of all these three reasons that she not only pushed TE away but also accused him of SKLL - for her he was not her husband and neither was she his wife, instead he was Ruqu's husband and she considered herself the third wheel. - Fair enough I wont find fault with Madam Jodha's convoluted thinking as the main cause for this was Ruqu darlings words and neither will I find fault with her for not hearing TE's words of love that night - must have seemed to her that he was lying since she had been convincingly brainwashed by both Ruqu and MA.
But if she does not consider herself as TE's wife nor does she think of him as husband then with what right did she get up to take a place next to him at the DEK?!?!?! How can anyone malign TE for Jodha's idiocy here???? As for the next move of TE asking her to leave DEK thru MA - I still stand by my take that he did this to spare her the ignomy of pity from the other women and since she could only leave DEK with his permission he did so but made it seem as an insult (and yes Shyamala I did see his smile - it was more of a 'I do know how to put you in your place my dear' smile and not one that was gloating over an insult.)
Infact TE has never insulted anyone in public ever.
2. The hojra change issue - There is another issue that TE said what he did to Jodha - well he did say so but he had the grace to accept his mistake and correct it.
3. The current issue is Ruqs and how she is his oldest and best friend etc etc etc. Well let me count the times that TE has already spoken to Ruqs and jog the memory of all the forum members who seem to be suffering from 'Gajinitis' (short term memory loss) - After his birthday, the first person to whom TE spoke of his new friendship with Jodha was Ruqs and he did tell her this would not in any way impact his relation with her. Next in the Tabassum track he calls Jodha and Salima also as Khas along with Ruqs - this he does becoz for him he has already spoken to Ruqs and being his oldest friend he expected her support. - was he wrong?!?!? In what way could someone tell me?!?!?!
The next time that he spoke to Ruqs was during the Hojra kissa - Where he did tell her not to act in a manner that belittled her dignity - wonder where all were when he said so and if this is not telling a friend that this kind of behavior is unacceptable then I wonder what is?????
After Jodha's Vishpaan TE has been showing his faith, admiration and respect for her through his actions - In my book the good actions / behavior of my best friend is an example that I would like to emulate - I suppose it is so for many of us - we do make an effort to emulate those who we consider as our best friends, idols etc. - Now here I will point to Begum Ruksaar - the one who had also been insulting in her behavior earlier - All were wondering at her changed behavior - well here could be two reasons why 1) Jodha saved her husband's life and thus her life too and 2) she has seen the changed behavior of TE and has emulated this - So why has Ruqs ignored this????
The reasoning is that TE should talk to Ruqs.
Now let us see Ruqs - TE relation - Is friendship one sided??? Are there not two in a friendship????? If the above times that I have mentioned, TE has expressed his POV to his friend Ruqs, has she at any time tried to understand and stand by him??? Is it only TE's duty to maintain this friendship???? Does Ruqs have no duty to maintain this friendship????? Everytime that TE has spoken of Jodha how has Ruqs 'REACTED"???? Does this not indicate to TE that Ruqs is not prepared to listen to anything???? What does one do when someone refuses to listen to us????? When a dear child refuses to listen to us??? All who are saying that TE shd sit Ruqs down and talk to her - what shd he say???? The hojra incident, the chess incident and the boat ride kissa have all shown to TE that Ruqs has declared him as her territory and she will not share - and in this situation anything that TE says in favor of Jodha will fan the flames of Ruqs anger even further - So what can he do that he has already not done???
Coming to Jodha, though Jodha has now accepted TE as her husband but she still has not accepted her place as his wife - for her she is still encroaching on Ruqs territory and this is what TE is now making Jodha rethink. The khema incident and the boat ride both have made it clear to TE that Jodha needs the push to realise her place as his wife and claim it. His talk and his support and his faith are the ways in which he is pushing her to this realisation.
Coming to the epi yesterday - TE did not raise his voice at the other Begums at first - It was only the repeated insinuation that made him raise his voice - These were the very women who had come to him with the idea that Jodha was a better person to handle the harem and within one day the same women were pointing fingers at their own choice - In my opinion he was justified.
TE did not show his displeasure at Ruqs for Jodha - He had already refuted the ilzam on Jodha yet Ruqs kept harping on the same - In my opinion if I am the thief / guilty party I would keep a low profile - and here Ruqs was pointing fingers at Jodha when TE had already junked it knowing fully that she is now dealing with the Emperor who she also knows is not a fool - TE was justified in showing his displeasure here at the DEK becoz Ruqs was challenging her friend, husband and Emperor - this was not about TE knowing that Ruqs was the culprit.
As for the later dressing down of Ruqs - Yes he did 'egg her on' but it was so that she gave her best effort in winning the rest of the haremites over and if she did not then at least he would not have her saying that she lost becoz she did not try or becoz Jodha won thru unfair means - this does not give Ruqs the license to adopting underhand tactics - Infact he also motivated Jodha - the method employed with both were different since both are different people. Had he only motivated one and not the other we can malign him but in this case he has motivated both.
As for a cowering Ruqs - This Ruqs is cowering becoz she lied - it is the same Ruqs who would face TE down - So now the Q why is she cowering??? Is he not the same man who she could stand up to earlier???? What has changed??? The Man, The Woman or The Intent????
As for the last scene and the romance - As of now this is tentative and it will be so until Jodha herself does not break the barriers - since they have been made by her - Taking cue from Jodha's words to TE yesterday - 'TE can only spk for himself and his Love' - He can neither assume for Jodha nor will he ask for Love to be returned for Love - That would become 'Vyapaar' - and TE has learnt this lesson the hard way that 'Love is an Act of faith and not an exchange' - and a tentative romance will have bittersweetness not passion.
I may have presented views here that are contrary to many becoz I did feel that my TE had been much maligned by perspectives and interpretations and these are my perspectives and interpretations of the narrative - I do feel that every narrative should be looked at from as many ways as possible to reduce subjectivity.
