hi buggy,( may I call u that ?😃 )
I really did not apprehend the magnitude of paro's misfortune until u pointed it out to me, thatz why I asked you to post it here.
just a fortnight back, and all was well in her tiny fairyland world, her thakurain sa and mamisa's apple of the eye, her bindi's confidante, the nagdevta's chosen bride, she happily twirled in her red bridal skirt oblivious nay ignorant of the impending dark clouds gathering in the horizon, that it was a pause before that voracious desert storm that would drink her happiness to the lees, that would make her dream wedding with a fairytale prince like stranger a sham of a marriage, that would turn her fancy of leading a blissful married life to be a mirage, that would make her life a living pandemonium and would fetter her forever with a man who is no less than a burning inferno himself.
Her dimpled prince vanished even before she could memorize his features and all that is in front of her is her lifelong nightmare personified --- the unfathomable depth of hazel eyes ablaze with hatred, doubt, fleeting tenderness and suppressed longings that would annihilate the coy maiden self and rouse her quintessential femininity...the eyes that would command her immense hatred and utmost trust at the same time, yes her position is difficult indeed.
and now there is another farce of a marriage looming large...she has nothing to prevent it except her betrayal to her loved one's of her once cozy world. Only she doesnot know that her loved ones are serpents beneath the flower beds and her life now resembles precariously to the drop of water balancing upon a lotus leaf...sparkling,crystal clear and all set to fade fast !!
last night actually cv's provided Parvati although for few minutes, that much needed space to reminisce and grieve for the halcyon days of her past, who knows when she would get such luxury of respite again !
And thank u Sabs , for making me realise the underneath meaning of it !!
Hello Shreya,
It's humbling to know that my comment resonated with you. And love your eloquent reply.
Agreed! Paro has all these mixed emotions and doesn't know which to trust; is being pulled in different directions and thinks she knows where to go. But we know the choice she is making, of Thakur/Birpur over Rudra, will only bring her grief.
Hers is actually a complete destruction - an obliteration of a life as she knew it, an identity as she thought it. And she is left cobbling together a new existence, while still yearning after her old one, knowing parts of her old life are still within reach, therefore not fully reconciling to the new nor jettisoning the old.
My heart goes out to her - so much to deal with, and nobody to actually talk to, no shoulder to cry on.
Last night Paro was overwhelmed, and gave in to her tears. It made for compelling, lump-in-the-throat viewing.
