CHAPTER 24:
It was around 10pm that everyone went to bed except Rey,who went to Kriya's room.When he went there, she was going through an album..
Kriya:aap...
Rey:hiii...ander aa sakta hoon..
Kriya:aap bhi na Rey..yeh koi poochne ki baat hain...
Rey:are you busy...if you are then its ok...i will come later..
Kriya:uff...nahi Rey,i'm not busy...just going through some of Taani's photos...
Rey:(pointing at a 10 year old)so this is Taani...
Kriya:haan...kitni cute hain na...(turning pages)aur yeh hain Asad bhai..yeh Saurav bhai..yeh Raghav bhai aur Taani...yeh wala Taani jab 14 year old thi ...
Rey: hold on,who is this baby then...whom Taani is holding..
Kriya:uski pehali beti...
Rey:what...what she is doing with Taani...yeah I know Taani is her mother and all...but i thought..
Kriya: Rey,She became mother at the age of 10...and know what,usse uski pehali beti ek kachre ki dibbe se mili...
Rey:(glancing at the baby who was hardly 2 year old)kachre ki dibbe se...lekin kaise..
Kriya:wo school se lot rahi thi aur ek bachhe ki rone ki awaaz suni...phir usse lekar ghar chali gayi...aunty ne pehale mana kiya...police main complaint kya...but they couldn't trace her parents
she pursuaded Taani to leave that child at an orphanage...but she didn't...and after so many arguments,hungamas...finally Aunty agreed...Taani ne aunty ka naam rakha uss bachhe ko...Gitaanjali..
rey:you mean our..our Gitu...
Kriya:(smiling ligtly)hmmm...aaj wo kitni badi ho gayi...pata hain hamare aankhon ki taara thi wo especially Varun's...
Rey was at loss of words..all he could do was to stare at that 10 year old girl and smile feebly...
Rey:saach mein Kriya...vishwas nahi ho ki koi itni chotti umar mein itni badi responsibility...sounds filmy
Kriya:baath umar ki nahi Rey...Taani ,frankly speaking ,suffered a lot..aap imagine bhi nahi kar sakte...jo seekh usse apni zindagi se mili hain wohi sab wo apni life mein apply kar rahi hain...
esa mein nahi wo kehati hain...
There was a silence.Rey wanted to ask more about Taani but he knew it was not the right time...So,he picked up another topic...
Rey:wo...Kushboo ma'am ke baare mein kuch poochna tha...
Kriya:kushboo ma'am tho humare college ki Avp or something like that,thi na...Taani came to know about her singing talent...she told me about something like Ma'am was not able to follow her
dreams...I don't know..anyways usne Aaliya bhabhi se keh kar unke school mein Ma'am ko music teacher bana diya...but don't tell Ma'am..She doesn't know about it...arre aap kahan jaa rahe ho..
Rey:(standing up)need to go...good night...
Rey rushed out unable to take the guilt anymore.He thought of going to his room but changed his mind and went to Taani's room.He opened the door slowly, last time when he came Taani was trying her
best to hurt herself.Now the room was bit more tider.He started walking around the room pausing here and there,touching few things kept there until he reached a photoframe of Taani.He took it
in hands and carassed it and was about to keep it back when something fell from it.Rey bend down and picked it up.It was his photo.Rey looked here and there while contolling his tears and stuffed
it back into the photo frame.He was feeling weak so he sat down on the bed and hid his face with his palms.For minutes he remained like that recollecting his moments with Taani.He then clutched the
bed feeling helpless.He badly wanted to go to Taani..hug her...bury his face in her hai...for a minute or two forget about everything...He slowly stood up and went to his room with heavy heart..
Unknown to him,Sameer was watching him from distance with a puzzled expression...
NEXT DAY...
Swayam and Rey were talking something when Ripu ran to door shouting 'mamu'.Soon,Ravi came inside with Ripu in his arms followed by Raghav,Aaliya,Anu.
Ripu:Mamu,mamu aapko pata hain mumma kal ghar nahi aayi...mamu jab wo wapas aayegi na aap unhe khoob daatna...
Ravu faked a smile and slowly kept him down.He sat down beside Rey while Raghav beside Swayam.Aaliya and Anu went in to bring something for them..
Ravi:(lowereing his voice)Rey,Swayam...i don't know how to thank you...agar aap log nahi hote tho hamari anni...
Rey saw in his eyes love for his sister which again made him feel guilty...
Vicky:hum Taani se milna chahte hain...
Neha:but with your permission...
Raghav:Ravi,infection tho nahi hoga na...
Ravi:no yaar...you guys can meet her...
Sharon:thank you very much...aapke saath aur bhi log the na...wo sab...
Raghav:Asad office chala gaya...ussi ke wajah se yeh sab ho raha hain na...Shreya chotti ke saath hain..Saurav aur Kittu kaka ke ghar gaye hain...infact,hum thodi der baad wahin jaa rahe hain...
Rinni:Taani ko hosh aa gaya...
Ravi:abhi tak nahi...medicines ke effect aur blood loss ke karanweak hain.I guess in one hour or so she will wake up...
Raghav:(rubbing his forehead)dekhna...khoob datoonga mein...hosh mein aane de usse...
Ravi:haan,haan...bas kar..mujhe pata hain Taani ke aankh khulthe hi tu yeh sab bhool jaayega...
Raghav:tu dekh aaj mein kaise uski class leta hoon...
Like that they started arguing..
Aaliya:(comming with lemon juice)ohho..kabhi tho shant beitha karo...hospital ka hungama ghar pe shuru..auur humme pata hain Raghav kya hoga...
Raghav:(taking a glass)bhabhi aap dekhna...hamesha uski man maani chalthi hain..lekin aaj kuch tho karna padega...
Anu:(siting beside Aaliya)rehane dijiye...aap bhaiyon ka koi barosa nahi...pichle baar bhi yehi bola tha..Taani ke chehra dekhne ke baad aap sabki zuban kahan chali jaathi hain iska koi pata nahi...
Noticing gang there..
Annu:Ravi kya yehi Taani ke dost(Ravi nodded)ohh...Thank you...all of you..for saving Taani's life...
Simmi:please...Taani hamari friend hain...humne koi badi bhaath nahi kiya..
Aaliya:yeh tho aapki badapan hain...
They continued talking this and that. After one hour,Rey left for Hospital alone while others stayed back for Kriya.Rey stood outside Taani's room,deciding on whether to enter or not..But when he
heard some noise.He opened the door slowly and peeped in.Taani was awake but hold on,she was trying to stand up..
Rey:(shouting)Taani..
Taani got startled and turned around..
Rey:kya kar rahi ho...tumhe tho...
Rey stopped midway,seeing Taani doubling forward clutching her stomach.. Rey at first didn't understand but when he saw blood oozing slowly from the wound ,he rushed to her...Taani's eyes were filled with tears of pain.Rey scooped her up and placed her on the bed calling uot for nurse.Soon a nurse came pantig..
Nurse:kya hua...
Rey:SHE IS BLEEDING...DO SOMETHING..
Nurse went out and came back quickly with bandages and other things.Taani was clutching Rey's hand..
Nurse:aap..aap zara bahar jaayiye..
Rey tried to free himself but Taani held on to him more...
Taani:(gritting her teeth)nahi...
Rey:(keeping palm on her forehead)i'm with you...
Rey slowly began to prise her fingers but the more he tried,more she tightened her grip...
Nurse:yeh kya kar rahi ho anni...chodo unhe..
Finally Rey somehow removed the grip and went outside.By then gang reached there..
Simmi:kya hua Rey...
Rey:taani's wound started bleeding..
Just then Ravi and Raghav joined them panting..
Ravi:(panting)k..kya hu..hua..usse..huuu...yahan se phone aaya tha
Rey:she was try..trying to walk or stand up..so..
Hearing this,Ravi's expression changed.His eyebrows narrowed in anger...
Nurse:(comming out)doctor,bandade kar diya hain...lekin aapko tho pata hain na...bitiya ek minute ke liye bhi shanthi se baith nahi sakthi..agar wo yeh sab karthi rahegi tho ghav kaise bharega...
Ravi scowled at the door and went inside banging the door open. Raghav and others followed him..
Ravi:(shouting)kya bachpana hain yeh Tansia...
Taani closed her eyes tightly clutching the bedsheet.Rey smiled seeing her antics..
Ravi:tu samjh ke kya rekha hain...haan...yeh sab mazakh lagta hain...
Taani closed her eyes more tightly...
Ravi:mein TUJHSE baath kar raha hoon...aankhe khol...
Raghav:(pacifing him)ab jaane de...jo ho gaya so ho gaya..
Taani opened one eye and looked at Raghav smiling while others including Ravi were stunned...
Ravi:jaane doon...iski ek galathi...
Raghav:(keeping his hand on her shoulder)galathi tho teri bhi ho sakti hain...tune shayad theek tareekhe se bandage nahi lagaya hoga...
Ravi looked at Taani who grinned at him...
Ravi:(Raising her hand)ek doon kya...
Raghav:Raviii...
Taani:(turning her face otherside and clutching onto Raghav's hand)bhaiyaa...
Raghav glared at Ravi...
Ravi:wow...Bhabhi ko yahan hona chahiye tha...thodi der pehale tu kya keh raha tha...
Raghav:kya..kya...chod na(kneeling down beside Taani's bed and cupping her cheeks)humari anni ab theek ho gayi hain ...yahi tho matter kar tha hain...
Ravi:(sitting on the bed)haan...lekin tune tho dara diya tha...ab promise kar tu esa kuch nahi karegi...
Taani:(pinching her throat)bhai promise...
Raghav:(kissing on her forehead)lekin hum risk nahi lena chahte(turning to gang)kya aap mein se koi iske saath,thodi der keliye rukh sakthe ho...we will be back soon...
Rey:I can stay back...
Swayam,Ravi,Raghav:NOO...
They looked at each other.Swayam grinned at them sheepishly...
Vishaka:wahh,what a unity at there...
All laughed except Ravi and Raghav as they didn't understand the reason..
Vishaka:if it is okay,I will stay back...
Gang looked at her in surprise...
Raghav:of course..thanks a lot...
Ravi:chalthe hain...Anni apna dyaan rakhna...
Ravi and Raghav left the room..Taani smiled at them...but gang were looking here and there with just one question in there mind:Will Taani forgive them...
