i am hereby concising the caste system given in following books - manu smriti, gautama smriti (nyaya sutra), boudhayana, vashistha smriti, vishnu smriti (dharmashastra) and arthashatra(kautilya) :
the * represents that the offspring has acquired the qualities of father (Pitrasadrisa) , but not his caste (Pitrasajati) . They acquire an interemdiary caste - lower than that of father but higher than that of mother. Though Manu doesnt give any other name, hence i have represented with a star.
Caste of offsprings from Anuloma (acceptable ) marriage:
1. Brahmana (Male) with the following Females:
Brahmana :
i) Brahmana son
Kshatriya :
i) Brahmana* (Manu , Boudhayana)
ii) Ambashtha (Vashistha , Gautama)
iii) Kshatriya (Vishnu)
iv) Murdhavasikta (Arthashastra)
(note 1: Vishnu smriti/ Dharmashastras always gives the son his mother's caste considering her to be giver of mentality and strength while in womb . Dharmashastras is considered the black -and -white book with no middle path)
Vaishya :
i) Ambashtha (Manu , Boudhayana)
ii) Daushyanta (Gautama)
iii) Vaishya (Vishnu)
iv) Bhrijjukantaka (Arthashastra)
(note 2: Vashistha smriti doesnt mention any marriage to two degree lower castes hence no name to offspings of brahmana-vaishya and kshatriya- sudra)
