Much has been written both in favor of, and against co-educational institutes. Both the proponents and opponents cite apparently valid arguments to support their view.

Having classes together is an excellent idea and is successful in most schools. Boys become aware of girls' abilities and vice versa. A spirit of co-operation and competition thrives in the co-educational system.

Girls & boys at a self conscious age take extra care of themselves. Growing up together and sharing activities such as dramatics, art and other things like socials, widen the students talents and a healthy atmosphere pervades in all co-educational schools. The spirit of co-operation that grows between boys and girls makes it easier later on to adjust in a mixed society.

But if we look from a Western sociological perspective, co-education has been declared as extremely disadvantageous to the female students. Many feminist movements have started an active campaign to get single-sex schools established in large numbers.

Do girls and boys benefit more from being taught together or separately?

Cheers,
Raksha

Nice topic Raksha di!! 😃

I think it really depends... being in an All Girls or Boys school can be beneficial, depending on the student themself.

Co-ed schools do allow more exposure and more interaction with different people, but as for education then i don't know if it helps or hurts.... sometimes it may help having all one gender schools. But it really depends i think, I myself have always gone to co-ed schools and still am right now.... but I know plenty of my friends and family relatives who go or have gone to All Girls or all Boys schools and they did fine with their education.

Co-ed is better. So many ppl who don't attend co-ed schools atleast once in their life turn out to be what I like to call "socailly retarded." 😆

I went thru all girls high school and I can say I would have preferred to be in Co-ed. IMHO Co-Ed is better.

I think girls and boys need to be taught together!!

Because of my father's transfer in job I studied in different places and different schools and colleges! Some of them are Co-education and some "girls high schools " and "women's college"!

I feel the people who study in coeducation institutes are more competitive, more outspoken and open minded!(ofcourse there are exemptions😆)

There is lot of danger with exclusive stuff! Girls in girls schools/colleges don't have much oppurtunity to display their talent ,so they look out of the campus for the right oppurtunites😉!!

Seriously speaking girls or boys who study in coeducation institutes have much broader views and they get good oppurtunity to discuss the subjects😆 and career prospectives😊!!

Cheers,
Mythili
