So Zoya read Jerk Khan's papers and that's why she said what she said two chapters ago! Or even if she didn't read them, she definitely has some inclination on what they are. It all makes sense NOW. Zoya is NOT the idiot in this relationship.

Hahaha! Did you manage to get Prasad to reveal to you the secret behind those papers yet...? :p
Asad had to consciously stop himself from smacking his palm against his forehead when he saw Zoya try to sneak out from behind him again. He grabbed her wrist right before she went out of his reach, and this time after pulling her back, he wrapped that arm around her waist, snaking it under her blazer as he pinned her against the side of his body.
"Miss Farooqui, you chose to wear those killer heels today yourself, and then you keep trying to run as well. Aapka dimaag thikane hai bhi ya nahi? Bhaagna hi tha toh kuch aur pehen leti. Still don't understand what's up with your getup, let alone your behaviour," Asad lamented sadly, waving the papers around as he gesticulated with his free hand.
"All your employees dress like this, so I chose to as well. I don't know why it bothers you so much. I am just an employee anyway," Zoya mumbled in irritation, as she tried feebly to pull away from his grip. He rolled his eyes at her silly attempt, before slamming the papers down on the table and then guiding her to stand in front of it, his arm locked securely around her waist.
"Sign this," Asad ordered in a complete no-nonsense tone. Zoya shut her eyes tightly and turned away stubbornly, shaking her head vigorously. Asad sighed loudly, mentally deciding whether he should jump off the building himself or just throw her off instead.
"I don't want to sign your stupid pre-nup," Zoya finally revealed, with a clear hitch in her voice. Asad dropped the arm around her waist, staring at her in complete shock as he took a step back. Zoya swallowed nervously as his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Maine papers dekhliya tha aapke kamre mein, the night before last. I'd come to tell you that I wanted to end the charade, and I found the papers instead," Zoya explained carefully. Asad's eyes darted around furiously as he tried to recollect the incidents of that night. Ah yes, he remembered now. She was there when he came out of the bathroom, and she was upset, demanding to leave. And then he'd emotionally blackmailed her, with all that rubbish about ending up in jail if the nikaah didn't follow through.
"Right, so you wanted to end it anyway right? Why would a pre-nup bother you so much then? It should technically make no difference to your life," Asad pointed out, crossing his arms across his chest as he pursed his lips and waited for her to respond. Zoya glared at him and then opened her mouth to retort, but nothing came out. She closed her mouth again, and then looked at the ground lamely.
"Okay, let me break it down for you. Pre means before, and nup is short for nuptial, which means marriage, am I right? This would mean that a pre-nup is something that people sign before marriage. Tell me Miss Farooqui, are you married?" Asad explained calmly, tapping his index finger lightly on his forearm, not a hint of emotion on his face. Zoya paused for a while to digest what he was saying, and then nodded slowly.
"Great. Now tell me, did you sign anything before the nikaah, and are you now eligible to still sign a pre-nup?" Asad asked further, as Zoya continued to stare at the ground stupidly, suddenly realizing where all of this was going. She shook her head, earning a sigh from Asad as he rested his case.
"Wait a second! I did sign the nikaahnama before the nikaah! That is in fact a type of pre-nup you know," Zoya exclaimed, as she recalled the events from the day before. She finally looked up at him, tilting her chin proudly. He couldn't always be right.
"Alright, and whatever you read on the pre-nup you found in my room, did you see it anywhere on the nikaahnama?" Asad countered, making Zoya shift her glance back to the ground as she shook her head again. Damn, he really was right this time.
"Okay, hold up, why did you even prepare those documents in the first place? Aapko kya lagta hai? That I would've taken all your money and run away? You don't... trust me?" Zoya practically squeaked out towards the end, just to earn yet another sigh from Asad.
"It wasn't me. It was my lawyer, Mr Tripathi. He heard that I was getting married overnight, so he called me up and well... interrogated me. I mean, he is a lawyer after all. So I told him the truth about how it came up to this, about your visa and everything. So he drew up those papers and sent them to me, in an attempt on his part to protect my assets," Asad clarified, as Zoya looked up and frowned, still a little confused.
"But..." Zoya began to argue again, when Asad lifted his hand and faced his palm towards her, telling her to stop. He took a step towards her and placed his palm near her elbow, trailing his fingers down her arm before taking her hand in his own, guiding her towards the chair to seat her again.
"Now you're going to ask me why I was gone the whole day yesterday. And your answer lies in these papers. I'd gone to prepare these documents and I want you to sign them," Asad cleared, as he pointed towards the papers lying on the desk. Zoya finally turned towards them, and then lifted them up tentatively as she read them. She read them slowly, her eyes widening in shock, and she began to rise from her chair again, unable to tear her eyes away from the papers.
"I AM NOT SIGNING THESE PAPERS MR KHAN!" Zoya shrieked, as she shoved the papers into Asad's chest, taking him by surprise. The papers fell on the ground since Asad hadn't grabbed them in time. Zoya began to walk out yet again, when Asad leapt forward and pulled her violently, making her lose her balance on those heels of hers. She fell unceremoniously on the ground, pulling Asad down on top of her.
"What the hell is the matter with you now?!" Asad growled into Zoya's face, both his palms pressing down on the areas next to her face as he held his weight above her. Zoya pushed her own palms against his chest as she tried unsuccessfully to push him off of her.
"I don't want to sign those papers Mr Khan, and you can't force me," Zoya bit out irritably, trailing her hands to rest on his shoulders after giving up on pushing him off. They stayed in that way for a while, glaring at each other silently, and the only sound audible being the whirring of the ceiling fan and the heaving of their chests.
A lock of Zoya's hair flew onto her face because of the fan, and Zoya began to blow on it stupidly, in turn blowing on Asad's face as well. He grunted at that, and then it struck Zoya that her hands were completely free to push the hair off her face herself. She moved one hand towards her face but Asad quickly caught it in his, clicking his tongue in disapproval.
Asad guided Zoya's hand back to his shoulder, arranging her fingers carefully. Zoya found herself allowing him to do as he pleased, and she cooperated, leaving her hand there. Asad moved his own hand towards Zoya's face, gently sweeping her fringe away from her face, and then trailing his finger down her cheek.
Next thing they knew, their lips met in the gentlest of kisses. Zoya wasn't sure if she lifted her head off the ground first or Asad leaned down first, and she came to realize that she didn't even care. She moved her hands to Asad's head, threading his hair, as Asad stroked her cheek lightly, intensifying the kiss, the papers left forgotten in a messy pile next to them.
