Today I switched on my TV and checked my news channel and it went "BREAKING NEWS" guess what I saw, if you're thinking something about the darfur conflict or something related to loads of deaths, rape, you're wrong or perhaps some natural catastrophe, earthquake, tsunami you're still wrong. Nope, basically the Indian media were portraying the Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding. Apparently, they thought two celebreties marrying is more important (and to be breaking news) than AIDs
Its not just about the breaking news, its even about the general news, like for example some few days ago I read an article about how a school teacher molested this kid who was a girl, and that was just given a little paragraph in the corner, as compared to the abhi ash wedding details which was given TWO pages. It was about the guest list of abhi-ash, and their wedding card 🤢. This annoyed me on several levels, see when I turn to CNN, I don't see news about how brad pitt and angelina got married and more importantly I wouldn't ever expect this kind of thing to be breaking news, I expect some REAL news. Today I watched oprah, and basically it showed this part of India where loads of people were dying of starvation and how women were abused, and I got pretty mad. Because with our media, the pure aim seems to be just to "entertain", it seems every day they seem to be posting the same ash-abhi wedding. I'm OK for them just giving the information or I dunno devoting 5 minutes to it. But no, they apparently prefer shoving it down our throats that Ash & Abhi are marrying, I mean repeatedly showing the same thing, again and again. Now I don't think this is abhi and ash's fault, they want the whole thing private, what can they do? They even had security and all that (See, I even KNOW the security arrangements for the wedding, its unaviodable). No, I blame the media.
And so, I pose a question to you guys, I might be wrong, but do you think the Indian media lost focus on what news to post? Because I sure do.
