laborer works 1 year hardly earns 1 lakh

govt employee may be 10 lakh

reputed mnc professional maybe 20-30 lakh

some BW starts are getting 1 cr for 1 TV episode

or 30 cr for 1 movie, 2-3 movies per year


wth they are doing so they need to be payed so much money.

nothing so gr8 if u ask me. better pay more to farmer who gives food or soldier who keeps u safe

sadly that's just how it goes, occupations which are more popular get the most pay, especially those occupations which have a fan following, like sports or entertainment

Arre .. BW stars chodo .. even the guys on TV get paid so much. Some of the new ones get about 20K per episode for daily soaps. That comes out to almost 5 lacs per month (some times they even have one hour episodes on weekends) which is about 60 lacs a year. That's just from one soap. Along with that they get some dance reality shows, after which they are invited to perform in all kinds of dance events. Some of them do some modelling too. Most of them are really young, in early twenties. It's like they hit a jackpot so early in their life.

see, the way I see it is if some people are getting huge money, the least they can do is extend a helping hand to the ones who need it...u know like give jobs to others...or like Jackie Shroff used to do, he used to freely help people financially..send their kids to college or contribute for weddings...thats the way, it should be...instead of buying expensive cars with only 2 seats, that money could be better used helping someone in need...

sadly very few people understand that...even with kids begging on the street in front their very eyes in Mumbai, stars dont do much! they clearly think of themselves only...

To people like us yes it is obvious their salaries seem way overpaid, but, when you consider the amount of $$ they generate in, it makes sense. Millions, sometimes billions, know their existence and shell out their few bucks for a song, a movie, concert, product, etc. When you multiply those few bucks by the millions- you get that huge "overpaid" number.

Eg:

Lady Gaga's concert grossed $200 million, her records sold 25 million copies, magazine covers, etc... Her brand probably grossed $1 billion so her $90 million salary makes sense.

Celebrities make money for the people that pay them. A producer would not pay DP the big bucks if he didn't think that employing her would make him richer. It's his risk, therefore it's his right to decide how to pay his employees. And she has ever right to demand of him what the market will bear.

this is who came first chicken or egg situation. ticket price is high so movie earns crores so starts get crores.

movie is making millions because ticket prices are skyrocketing. A movie running for just 2 weeks is declared blockbuster now a days, compared to old days silver jubilee and golden jubilee. Who decide how much ticket prices will be. Some might say, charge 1 rupee per ticket, pat 2-3 lakhs to actors, still they will be rich and common man's pocket will not hurt. And also good stories and better actors will get more work.

You're doing it all wrong.

You can't compare the salary of the top 15-20 actors with the salary of the average layman. To get a proper picture you have to compare the salary of the top actors with the top businessmen, CEO's, athletes, artists etc.

Anybody whose at the top of his profession will earn big money. A top businessman will earn 10 times what a top actor would. CEO's, artistes and athletes will earn in the same range.

The flip side is an entry level business major will earn much more than a junior artiste in films. Acting was and still is the lowest paying job in the world. Many well known junior artistes die without a cent to their name.
