First off, I'd like to thank everyone who has posted here with regard to the 'Shaadi' thread temporary closure. Since I wasn't even online when it happened and I was only recently alerted about the comments on this Complaints thread, I'm thankful to those who brought this to my attention.

There are several points I'd like to make here:

Firstly, as Semanti has already pointed out, I'm on vacation in India at the moment and I only log in briefly every few hours, read the comments on my thread and "Like" them, and then disappear into the asli duniya again. I get to my PMs and scraps only once every few days, and my readers are aware of that.

It was all done in the spirit of fun, which is what we are all here for in the first place, aren't we?

Now, if this is considered 'encouraging spam', then I am definitely guilty as charged.

I did read the suggestions by the DT about posting a 'Note' asking my readers not to spam. I will do so on the next thread of 'Shaadi' , only because I have no time or inclination to keep making new threads whenever a thread of mine is reported or closed for 'spamming'.

But I have several problems with this measure. How will I ask my readers not to spam, when I have never clearly understood just what constitutes spam until today?

I have asked other writers for quick updates myself, and I have posted several fun comments on parts of their stories too. Now with that said, it would make me a hypocrite to ask others to stop asking for updates.

As for not 'Liking' the supposed 'spam', I'm afraid I cannot do that at all.

It would be gross disrespect of readers who have been reading my attempts at fan fiction over a year now, and I will continue to show that I have taken the time to log in from my phone and read their comments that they have posted despite their own busy schedules. It's the least I can do, especially after they have taken the time to read and comment at all when the show is long since over.

Coming to the person or persons who have reported this thread, I do wish that you had come to me with your complaint if you had difficulty in navigating through 'Shaadi'. Since there is only one update on Thread Two and the link is on the Index on Page 1, I really don't know how I could make this easier . I also PM the link to everyone on my buddy list, tweet it, and make it my status on IF. Despite all that, if you cannot find the update among the comments, please feel free to ask me first, I really don't mind.

And finally, the part where the DT says that the rules are the same for everyone. I know that, and understand that well. What I fail to grasp is why anyone thinks that I expect preferential treatment of any kind. I have no friends in high places here on IF, and I don't know why or when I've given the impression that I consider myself to be above the rules, as they are.

My problem after the DT warning on 'Khwahishein' and even now is still the same, I find it difficult to understand the parameters of 'spam' and therefore I cannot advise others on the same.

With that said, I will post a note about this on Thread Three of 'Shaadi', and with all due respect, I hope that it satisfies the powers-that-be.

It will also contain an apology to my readers, since I have never before dictated what someone should or shouldn't comment before.

I have also accepted that I will never really understand the rules on spamming, so this is the best I can do.

This really confuses me. Firstly because a writer is not waiting for its readers to "update soon" to update. Sometimes, we as readers get impatient. And a story with over 500 readers what can a writer do about it. 😕
2. We can't tell them to take care if their note says that they're feeling unwell or are busy and will take time. We're supposed to "scrap" them or send them a PM, because making them reply to each person when they don't have time to update in the first place makes more sense than us posting it on their story thread?
Valid point. We don't expect our writers to reply to our comments but scarps & PMs make it a little personal. There is nothing wrong in "Get well soon"

I've read the poems, songs comments -they were related to the story and the teaser Juhi posted. I was told we are allowed to discuss the plot line and that was exactly happening on the thread.

It's quite hard and impossible. We need to know what's happening and make random guesses about what we think is going to happen. 😛
5. If people have problem navigating. Use the index page. No one is asking you to read comments.
These people should get a raise in Warning for not reading the author's note and index on the first page. BTW how they know how to report a thread? 😆
6. The author cannot be blamed for not stopping spam. We're all adults here (hopefully), we make our own choices. If someone chooses to ignore the author and "spam", how is it the author's fault?
Valid. An author can't be expected to write updates and also do moral policing especially when they are so busy. 🤢
7. But right now, seeing that everything is spam, i don't know what to do. I really want to know what is "spam". 😕
8. Also, to someone who said that if you see someone who has a thread with conversations taking place, you can report it. To that person I'd like to say, when I read a story, i read the story. What conversation others are having don't bother me. If the author doesn't have a problem, I don't see why anyone else should. I don't see the need to report something that actually doesn't require reporting.
They have all the time to read the comments and report it but they just can't find the update. Some special case are they?😕
9. If the content is derogatory and offends you, then by all means report it. but if a person is writing something about characters in the story or about what is going to happen next in the form of a poem, how does it offend?
I really want to know because I sometimes do post songs/pics related to what I expect or wish in the next update. 😳
10. And if the Moderator warning was a template, please change it. It is excessively rude and implies that people want favoritism, when it is the last thing on their mind. Yo Yo!! Some personal touch needed. Moderators should also have some time to edit their warning template when they expect author to tell readers to stop their update soon comments.
