How can Ashok be Legal Guardian??

In yesterday's epi, Ashok was busy patting himself on the back saying the Raman will have to call him now as he will be Ruhi's legal guardian but he won't bother answering the phone BUT how is that possible? Doesn't he have to be married to Shagun to be considered a legal guardian? Or is the fact you live with your lover/bf enough? Is he considered her common law spouse as they've lived together long enough or is that something that just happens in the west? And even if that were the case, would that give him rights as legal guardian over Ruhi anyway?????

shagun won't give permission and will ask raman call ashoq and if he says yes then ok else no... :)

yea u r right there is no way that he can be legal guardian of Ruhi until n unless he marries Shagun which he never gonna do! ;p

we need to ask some one who has throo knowledge abt legal matters...

That's what I was thinking but am not sure about the laws in India.

That is a possibility but I'm not sure why she would tell him to call Ashok after she's already denied permission...maybe to rub it in his face some more or make him grovel...

Would love it if someone with knowledge about family legal matters in India would chime in...

Even if someone who knows the legal system of family affairs in India speaks up, when have these dramas stayed close to fact? However I really think he wont be necessarily her legal guardian, but because he is living with Shagun, and he is financially supporting her, therefore he is indirectly her guardian? Because even though he isn't married to Shagun, they're still partners? I don't know.. just my guess..

@bold: That's so true and wasn't going to post this as by now I shouldn't expect any kind of logic from Indian serials but I still can't help myself😆.
