With Respect to Relations with Humayun

As usual, responding to PMs..!..

Will update this issue in detail later.
Updating now, only on basis of what i remember.

BTW, Jalal has MANY reasons to get UPSET by Sher Shah Suri's name.

*********************************************************************************************************

Sher Shah Suri established Sur Empire (1540-55) , after defeating Humayun.
A man of high administrative capability.
Did wonderful reforms - postal system, agriculture, administration, army, etc..

*********************************************************************************************************

Todar Mal
served first under Sher Shah Suri.(died 1545)
Later, served as Akbar's Finance Minister.

*********************************************************************************************************

Both Sher Shah Suri and Humayun had fought many battles.

But, Battle of Chausa, 26/27 June, 1539, WAS VERY serious for Humayun.

Not only he lost the battle, but lost something precious.!.

At this battle, on 27 June, Humayun lost his 8 year old daughter, Akika Sultan Begum, daughter of his favorite wife Begum Bega Sultan.šŸ˜• She was NEVER found.!

Humayun Nama, page143, records these words of Humayun --> "Why did I not kill her in my own presence?".šŸ˜• He was devastated..!...Still, this man fought.šŸ‘

Even his wife, Begum Bega Sultan, was captured, but Sher Shah Suri, kept her in high regard, and released her with honour and dignity. ( It is said so. )

Humayun fought HIS LEVEL BEST, but lost . Finally, escaped from battlefield. Swam across flooded Ganga river. And, then returned to Agra.

More than 7000 Mughal soldiers and the CREAM of nobles died, in this battle..!!

*********************************************************************************************************

Why was Jalal angry hearing Sher Shah Suri's name??

Probable Reasons:

1. His father LOST Mughal Empire.
2. Went into exile.

3. Jalal lost his sister / Humayun lost his daughter.

4. Also, Humayun had built a city called Dinpanah in Delhi, on banks of Yamuna, but it was destroyed by Sher Shah and he built his capital, Shergarh on it's place.!. Some sources say, he further developed the city. But, this clause does not holds any ground.!.

5. Mughals considered Sher Shah as "dhokebaaz/traitor". He attacked Humayun at night in the Battle of Chausa. { So, i mentioned dates as 26/27 June, 1539. }

Will update in detail later.
But, i feel, till then, you all, have got enough HINT, why Jalal was fuming with ANGER hearing, Sher Shah Suri's name.!.

*********************************************************************************************************

This was a summary.
Though, Sher Shah and Humayun, fought many battles.
I am running short of time.
So, giving a short and concise update, for time being .!

Abhay has given us information on Shershah suri..just extrapolating on that

1.Humanyun defeated Shershah in 1531 for the first time but shershah was a low rung officer in the Afghan kingdom of Bihar at that time..from that time shershah acted as a mughal vassal outwardly but was bidding his time to establish his kingdom..

2.shershah slowly extended his reach to bengal and set his eyes on the agra throne..at this time instead of routing shershah, humanyan tried to cajole him into submission...shershah accepted to relinquish the regalia of bengal and bihar , pay one million rupees to humanyun ,if he was allowed to rule under the mughal overlordship..humayun accepted but shershah cheated him as he secretly built an army in bihar under his son Jalal Khan to defeat Humanyun.he did defeat them ,not only by miltary strength , also by his wily plans of choking the mughal without essential supplies during the monsoon .According to the mughals, this was the first betrayal by shershah and read a Kutbah in his name declaring himself the ruler of bihar and bengal..

3.After pushing Humanyun out of these states ,shershah started testing the mughal strength in U.P.....by this time .the mughal army was dispirited because of the bengal and bihar defeat ..this started the downward spiral in Humanyun's life..the incidents after this has been written on this thread by Abhay..

4.shershah was a brilliant administrator and even today his administrative nuances are followed in the Indian Administrative services..prevention of fraud was a obsession with suri and he was the first aghan who had a elaborate network of spies to report on corruption among his officers in his empire..intially,Akbar's administrative framework was based on shershah's though he improved on it later..

At a time, when ordinary people and even women were also taught to read and write, it is highly improbable that a future emperor was not trained for it. Or, perhaps, people who brought Jalal up did not want him to learn at all, for their own benefits.

Thanks,

Thank u so much Abay!!! may be indirectly sher shah suri could be the reason for jallu's lonely childhood as his father had to exile after the defeat.

But yes, he indeed was a very well versed person , as was his father Babur...it's a pity that his own son did not learn to read/write...😳

I know about his addiction Di..but that's sad no?
khair, I have read somewhere Jalal had dyslexia..therefore, he found difficulties in reading and writing...is it true ?

Tamy, Gussa kyu hote ho..!!..😃

This 'dyslexia' is a "relative" concept, not "absolute", and, involves lot of things. I won't say Akbar to be a dyslexic. This question is highly debatable. I have read a lot, and concluded something as follows:

As per modern theories, a dyslexic person has many symptoms, like --
(more symptoms are there, no need to do PHD on this topic.šŸ˜†)

1.
Attention Deficiency --> And, this DOES NOT fits in his personality.

2.
Poor memory --> Again, contradictory. Akbar could remember the event by heart..! (It's said..)

3.
Low Self-esteem --> Again, DOES NOt fits with Akbar's persona. NOT AT ALL.

4.
Panicking during disorder-->Again, against him. He was known for his well-calculated moves.

5.
Poor interest in Mathematics --> Now, for this i have a solid proof. Sheikh Faiz Mubarak translated a book in mathematics, called Lilavati, written in 12th century, in Persian, on Akbar's orders. Also, he was appointed Mathematics teacher for his son. Doesn't this say, despite not being able to learn, he knew the importance of Mathematics.?.

Finally, i gave these points to justify that, if a person can't read or write, then we CAN NOT term him to be a total dyslexic. There are many points REQUIRED to prove someone, dyslexic.😊
If BEING ILLITERATE is the "ONLY" definition for dyslexia, then ALL illiterates in the world are dyslexic.!. šŸ˜‰šŸ˜Š
