Did they ever explain how and why Fahad has two wives? Or how it all happened?

Correct me if am wrong, from what i gather nafeesa is his first wife with two daughters...he had an affair with shazia, who was his secretary, suraiyyah got him married to her in the hope of having a grandson !

First half of it is correct.!

Surraiya didn't got them married. It was Fahad who had an affair with his secretary 'Shazia' and married her.

I think this is what I heard in an episode of BI.

How is this possible?

Surraiya hates low standard people and Shahzia's family is a middle-class one.

I heard Sarraiya saying in an episode "Ek low-standard ki larki ayi hai mere ghar mein, doosri nahi aanay doon gi." Her dialogue was something similar to this.

I'm not sure about the order of the things happening, but 2 things HAVE been mentioned in the show, Suraiyya got Shaziya married to Fahad, in the hope of getting a grandson & Shaziya did phaaso Fahad (would ideally never use this word for a woman, but she says it herself!)

so either...

... Shaziya, his secy, entrapped him, and Suraiyya got them married in the hope of getting a grandson
... Suraiyya got any girl who was ready to marry a married man with 2 kids, in this case his gold-digging secy. Shaziya got married and managed to wean him away from Nafisa (hence the faasna)

Suraiyya is very fond of her grandson, but since then has realized her mistake in bringing a greedy, shallow, unclassy D-I-L (there are times when the grandson tells her that mummy said if i behave well you will give us lots of money). This behaviour she attributes to small town, middle girls class which is why she was so particular about Zain not contracting such a marriage, and which is why she is so against Aliya
