FINALLY! YES!👏 I really pray that they are forced to delete the scenes from the film. Rules should be the same for everyone.

PIL against 'Gunday' dance

KOLKATA: The Ranveer Singh-Priyanka Chopra starrer 'Gunday', due to be released on February 14, has landed in legal trouble over a song and dance sequence shot in the city.

On Monday, Calcutta high court lawyer Krishnendu Gooptu filed a PIL wanting to know why permission was granted to shoot the sequence against the backdrop of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple and Calcutta high court. The matter is likely to come up for hearing on Friday before the bench of Chief Justice A K Mishra and Justice Joymalya Bagchi.

The petitioner went through a clipping of the song Tune Maari Entriyan that has Ranveer, Priyanka and other actors gyrating near the statue of Surjya Sen outside the high court and in the courtyard of the Dakshineswar Temple.

"At Dakshineswar, the sequence was shot just outside the sanctum sanctorum where devotees gather in their thousands on any given day. The temple was the abode of somebody of the stature of Ramakrishna Paramahansa and such behaviour there should never be encouraged. One wonders when the sequence was shot. It must have been done when the Goddess rests and nobody is allowed inside the temple. The other possibility is that the devotees were prevented from entering while the sequence was being shot. Either way, what took place was not right. In 2011, permission had been sought by another producer to shoot a sequence inside the temple. The request was turned down," Gooptu said.

The PIL also states that permission should never have been granted to shoot the sequence against the backdrop of the high court, which is a high-security zone.

"I have prayed to the court to delete the scenes from the film when it is released. I have also sought directions that such permissions shouldn't be granted in the future," Gooptu added.

Rules should be the same for everyone. Videography is not allowed at all in the temple plus it is a holy shrine. Three bolly actors dancing to Dil mein baji ghantiyaan in front of a holy shrine does not make sense at all.

Is this the high court? OMG it's a pretty building. 😆

It's probably unlawful of them to do this, but hey watch the video and you'll realise how elaborately shot the whole sequence is. They have like a thousand dancers in the background and the high court is a beautiful backdrop for the song sequence.

Even the temple, it's not shown in bad light or anything, but yeah I see where the religious protesters are coming from. They're doing weird dance moves in front of the temple, I would hate it if someone did this in front of a masjid.

I doubt YRF would bow down on this one, this matter will go to court. One thing I'm wondering though, is why now? Why not two months ago when this video released?

Its the Govt which is to be blamed. They have shot in places where shooting is permitted for anyone. So obviously they have like paid a lot to shoot at the locations. I don't have a problem with the high court, my only problem is with dancing in the temple premises. Maybe it's personal because I believe it to be a very powerful shrine and all my wishes get fulfilled whenever I visit the temple there but it's not about the choreography, it's about spoiling the whole environment of the premises. And they are dancing exactly in front of the temple where the idol is kept.😵

I really don't know why they have problem against high court but yeah a masala number in a temple..is weird. It's not even like the Ik Onkar song shown in Rang De Basanti with the Golden Temple in the background.

The worst part is that the song is SO catchy and I love the whole choreography of the song that even if I want to get angry on the makers, the song cools me down.😆

Nope it isn't a temple. They shot it in Hampi in front of the stone chariot. It's a historical monument. Though they damaged the ruins by dancing and playing the song so loudly and getting trucks and stuff.🤢 Idiots.

Everyone in Arab use the Salam word to great each other.. even the non muslim use... Even in the arabic songs, they use the word Salam.. They might not taken in from the Koran / use a holy word but just a normal greeting word in arabic like hello, hi..

I hope they do remove those scenes, because like you said the temple means a lot to so many people and it's insulting to be shooting such stuff there.

Is this the temple? This is beautiful. Another place ticked to go to on my trip to India.

But what's the problem in showing the Calcutta High court? I get the temple part..that is not right. They should not be allowed to shoot near any religious place but why the High court? 🤔
