A first for Indian television. Since its inception Kumkum has not had a single replacements nor has any actor walked out of the serial, either due to boredom or problems with the production house.
This is the first serial that will have completed 1000 episodes without any replacement of the main characters. The show will also complete five years on the same day.
Juhi Parmar (plays the title role of Kumkum) says: "There are many reasons behind the success of the serial. But according to me the main reason is that, it had not shifted its focus from its main story. The show started with Kumkum and Sumeet's love story and now even after a leap the focus is still on it. If the focus of the show would have shifted then it would have lost it's popularity. This is a brilliant love story, as neither are there 10 marriages of the characters nor are there 100 affairs. Kumkum and Sumeet are still together with loyalty and dedication. They are an ideal couple."
"This show has given me lots of confidence and popularity. Further it has given me a chance to play different characters in a same role. Like I played Chanda who was a village girl then I played a Haryanvi girl recently. So it has given me the satisfaction of playing many roles."
"The team of Kumkum: producer, director, spot boys and everybody are very good. We share a good rapport with each other. We have no fights or bad blood amongst us. We are really like a family off screen as well. The atmosphere on the sets is always happy go lucky. I feel positive vibes on the set. That's why there is no quitting or fights on the sets. From day one our director Ashish Patil, camera man Dannie even our spot boys are same, which is a record. If you look at other shows there are entries and exits taking place after every three days."
"Off screen we'll be having party and on screen there will be special episode for the viewers. So that they feel that they are also involved in the celebration. The 1000th episode will be aired on 26 April. We haven't started shooting for it. But I'm hoping that we'll start shooting this week soon."
Vivan Bathena (Dhruv Kumkum's son), says: "This show is a big hit because of a good team, actors and a family oriented story. Indian people like family oriented stories. When I joined the show I received very warm welcome from every actor. They made me so comfortable that I never felt that I'm a new comer in the show. For 1000th episode, I think we'll be going out to celebrate. The atmosphere on the sets is like a family. I have learnt a lot of things from my director Aashishji and our camera person Dannie. They are very helpful. As an actor I have learnt many technical things from them which are very useful for me. Juhi and Hussain are very nice friends of mine. They are very professional and have supported me to fit into this unit."
It is said that Kumkum's team will be going outdoors for the celebration of the 1000th episodes. However Hussain was not available for the comment because he was unwell. Kumkum can be seen from Monday to Thursday at 1 PM on STAR Plus.
