Shashank mom is worse than Kinnari. At least Kinnari doesnt pretend like she's such a good girl. She knows who she is and only hides it to save her own skin. Shashank mom is the worst type of woman. One who thinks she is a respectable woman but actually is a supporter of womens exploitation. First she didn't want Shashank to marry Ankita bc Ankita didnt want to abandon her maternal home after marriage and become a virtual slave to the Shashank household. She believes woman should be constrained to the kitchen and forget their maternal home after marriage instead of giving equal importance to both in-laws. And now she doesnt want Mansi bc instead acknowledging that rape is an act violence just like a regular assault, she blames Mansi. Mansi is less than bc she states "I don;t want a girl iike that in my house."😡 A girl like what idiot? A girl who was forced against her will to perform sexual acts with a man. A girl whose only fault was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. As a woman Shashank mom should know better and should support justice against rapist. She should understand that love for a family doesnt cease to exist bc a woman is now married. She shouldn't accept a sexist principle of the girl always leaving the family home after marriage and instead should work towards equality for woman. Instead she shames these girls for wanting to be treated as an equal and as victim all while pretending she is an angel. How she got a son like Shashank is a mystery.

I hated that woman .If anything had happened to her son Shashank ( as Shashank himself said ) like an accident or something , she would have still expected Mansi to marry him but because now Mansi got raped she immediately believes some lafanga caller and called Mansi kalankit and what not ...
I would love to see Shashank yell at her at the top of his voice and also her husband should tell her to shut up .
and if she still goes on then Shashank should take his wife ( Mansi ) and leave home ...
Can't believe she is Shashank's mother .😡

They seriously need to stop showing women like this on TV. Though such women exist in real life, but may be giving more & more screen space to real women who stand up for their own kind and have zero tolerance towards woman haters such as the above mentioned, there will be a shift in public opinion...may be. But it certainly doesn't help at all when such regressive, abominable women are shown day and night on TV. I hate this trend honestly.

I disagree with the mom.

But i can understand where she's coming from. Virginity and modesty are so important in Indian marriages. It a tradition or whatever u wanna call it that is so embedded in the indian mind. She's afraid of what society will say and what not. They just don't want that "burden". I feel sad saying that but thats the mindset of a lot of people b/c thats the culture.

Maybe i'm wrong and i hope i am.

As a parent she should be ashamed of herself to treat someone's daughter this way, especially one who has been a victim of rape. If she really cared for Mansi she would have never insulted her the way she did and rejected her, Soham showed more of a heart than she did. I'm just glad Shashank is not abandoning Mansi and is encouraging her to fight back.

''If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.''

By choosing to take on the viewpoint of sexist India society and failing to stand up for justice, she has chosen to support Ranuk. It is only a burden if she chooses to see standing up for what is morally right as a burden. Yes there will be backlash from neighbors and alike but someone has to take on that stand. By choosing to accept what is traditionally accepted, she has become involved in the expoliation of rape victims everywhere. Shashank mom supposedly belives that she has moral compass. But by stating that Mansi is "that type of girl" because she was assaulted against her will, she shows that she has no moral compass. A person with morals will not take on this type of stand. And furthermore she didnt just say to Mansi that I understand that the rape is not your fault but it is too much of a burden for me take that kind of stand against society. She actually blamed Mansi for it when she called her "that type of girl." She blames Mansi for her rape and not the rapist itself. She promotes the view that Mansi is less than because of the fact that she is no longer a virgin or pure. Humans are much more than their sexuality. If Mansi had chosen to have pre-marital sex, then Shashank mother would have been right in not accepting Mansi because it was Mansi choice. Choices have consequences and people have a right to judge others for their choice, But to judge and blame people for things out of their control (rape, poverty, supporting of maternal family) is dispicable and in doing so, she supports opression everywhere.

How is Shashank's mom worse than Kinnary ?

She is not the one shielding a rapist . Kinnary is .

She may be called a woman who is petty , but nowhere is she on the same level as Kinnary . She may not have broad minded thoughts and extremely narrow minded ones , but she is doing no crime .

While hiding a rape , lying for a rapist is a crime .

@nikki1591...at your second post: very, very well written and backed! You'd make a highly convincing social rights activist. no kidding. 😊
@koolsandhu1000: Kinnari and Shashank's mom are no different, really. At least Kinnari doesn't pretend to be sanctimonious. She is what she is and she hardly seems to have any qualms with that, but anyways I'm not supporting her deeds. Shashank's mom...better if you read the post made by nikki1591...she's done an excellent job reflecting on this issue.

Absolutely nikki... But explain that to the millions of people who share his moms viewpoint and would actually say worse things. Its a shame but sadly its the norm still in many many parts of India to this day. They choose the side of oppression b/c thats whats been taught as right for them.

There were no suprises wen his mom acted way. Its expected. Hopefully the track is written in such a way that she realizes her mistakes and changes and this track sets an example and teaches something to the viewers. But i wont hold my breath on it.
