Although multiple marriages are frowned upon...they are allowed in Islam up to 4.
They are difficult and discouraged because you have to treat each wife equally in every manner, else pay the consequences in the hereafter. As a result there is a very small percentage of muslims that actually carries out the practice.
It's a common misconception...but the husband does not need permission from his wife to marry again.

Fahad fell in love with and married Shaziya who worked in his oiffice...so of course Nafeesa is bitter/jealous.

from what i understand (my bestie who is muslim told me this) she said only if a wife cannot have children, who has disease, can marry again. if Fahad fell in love with Shaziya then he should have divorced Nafisa. then pay the Mehr which would have hurt him

Not being to able to have children, not being able to satisfy a husband sexually, etc, are just reasons people give for multiple marriages. Marrying a widow to support her is another reason. But again up to 4 is allowed for whatever the reason.

Multiple marriages have been going on since ancient history, Prophet Abraham had at least 2, Prophet David had 99, Prophet Jacob had 2...this is just from top of my head...it's not something that was in Muslim culture per se. Islam just came and put a limit on how many wives you could have at any given time...4

Why should Fahad have divorced Nafeesa...what fault is it of hers?

Of course if Nafeesa had wanted a divorce she could have asked Fahad for one when he decided to marry Shaziya.

What Fahad should have done was not look at other women which is forbidden in Islam...and as a result he wouldn't have fallen into Shaziya's trap.

Another misconception is the haq mehr you speak of...it has become common culture that the mehr is given to the woman only if she divorces from her husband...where as in reality it is her right to demand the sum from her husband whenever she wants.

My husband gave me mine on our wedding night...and we're still happily married...😆

Getting back to Nafeesa...she accepted the fact that Fahad is marrying again...but it is only natural for 2 rival wives to be jealous...no one likes to share their husband.

You can fall in love four times ?! Well, that's news to me. 😆

Prophet Muhammad said, 'The best of you are those who are best to his wives.'

Don't you think a guy who tells his wife that he wants to get married again is a sign of respect instead of doing it behind her back and shocking her ? Of course if she's not happy with his decision, then she can divorce him.

But whether the husband needs permission or not, (because I've heard some say that he needs permission and some say he doesn't ) I think he should still share it with his wife, so he doesn't hurt her feelings. Plus, a husband and a wife are supposed to tell and share everything with each other, no ?

Btw, this was just an excuse to say hi ! ; )

Hope you're well.

Not all Muslim men have two to four wives. Nowadays, people don't have time for their own selves. Let alone taking care of 2/4 women plus kids ! & having 2 to 4 wives isn't a joke.

Allah says in the Quran, 'You will never be just so it is better to only marry ONE.'

This whole four wives marriage thing was practiced during Prophet Muhammad's days. It was only during war when women lost their husbands, so Prophet Muhammad and his companions married them to take care of them. Prophet Muhammad NEVER married for pleasure reasons.

I find it very messed up when men get married again for dumb reasons like his wife didn't have a baby or if she was sick. If your wife is sick, you stay by her side. You take care of her like how she took care of you when you were sick. You don't get married again. If a man truly loved his wife, those dumb reasons wouldn't get in the way and plus, you can always adopt which is a very good deed in Islam.

But that's just my opinion.

Hi Aya 😛...and very well put. 😆...Ooo...you quoted Quran...like I said well put 👍🏼

Chanchal mann ati random...a person can be infatuated countless times...but love...perhaps once...but that's not the only reason people get married is it?

Of course if a man is getting married he should discuss with his wife...I'm sure she'll demand a reason...but I was just saying technically...he doesn't need her permission to marry again. If she's not happy she can ask for divorce.

Men can't do justice...that is why it is said to stick with only one...Fahad is a prime example 😆

Agree with what you said about the rest though it is sad that we see people abusing this provision in for personal reasons.
