Agree souro...and thats why they went ahead with it...

But the spirit is absolutely missing...first Pakistan are out, then the Bob Woolmer episode and then India not making it...The commercial angle of the tournament suffered a great deal...

Shouldnt it serve as an eye opener to the cricket control authorities coz the more you adulterate sports with commerce the more it will take you away from the real essence of it.

Ideally I would say that WC should have been postponed till the murder case was solved but I know that it is impossible because a lot of money is at stake and a murder case could take years to solve.

What I would like for ICC to do is to make stricter rules for cricketers, coach and people involved with the match and don't allow them to interact with outsiders during the entire match. This is to stop them from interacting with bookies and underworld that endorses betting.

Btw does anyone here know who all are playing semi finals? I am totally out of touch and lost all interest in the game.

Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka are into the semis... fourth place is still undecided... it may be between South Africa and England.. mostly SA. Who plays whom will be based on final points after all the matches are over in Super 8. 😊

Though Pak was out of the series it still played against Zimbabwe after Woolmer's death. The team didn't want to play but it was forced to. So i don't think WC would have been postponed even if Pak team was in.

I was thinking about it then that how come Pak team was forced to play in such a situation and in one WC when Australia refused to play in SL citing security reasons there was no strict action taken.
