CHAPTER-2.
Baldev strode as fast as possible to catch up with her..
He could see her swaying her way to God knew where down the rutted village path..
"Oye Veera oye!Ruk!!!"He called out,and watched her stop.
But she had not turned to face him..
As he reached upto her,he turned her around holding her hand,a bit roughly..
Just as his eyes fell on her face,he forgot to think..
Heaving still from the chase,he stared at her dumbstruck..His eyes took in her complete appearance..From afar she had looked stunning,but from up close she looked so beautiful that he had forgotten why he had stopped her in the first place..
His eyes took in her large eyes,which now rimmed with kajal looked even larger and beautiful,her rosy cheeks,and then her lips..
He inhaled a staggering breath..Her lips looked so pink and soft and..
"Ki hoya Baldeva..?Tainu achanak aaj meri yaad kaisi ayi..?
[What happened Baldeva..?How did you suddenly remember me today..?]"Veera asked him in an unusually soft and sweet voice,which made him blink twice before he could drag his eyes from her lips and look back into her eyes..
"Bata na Baldeva..?
[Tell me Baldeva..?]"She took a step towards him,and he instantly he moved back by two steps..
Something that looked so much like anger seemed to spark in her eyes,at his action..
Before Baldev could think on that,Veera took two more steps towards him,and as if reflexively,he took four more steps backwards..
This time as he looked into her eyes,he could seriously see burning rage in her eyes.
Baffled at her reaction,and not understanding that he himself was the cause of it,he tried to remember as to why he had stopped her in the first place..
His eyes moved to her long dangling jhumkas,and that instantly reminded him of thumkas,and then..Bingo!He remembered why he had stopped her!
Now he gathered his anger,and opened his mouth to blast her for flirting with that guy,when suddenly he found himself pushed against a nearby tree,her soft body pushing against his..
"Tainu daar lagta hai mujhse Baldev..?
[Are you scared of me Baldev..?]"She seethed through clenched teeth,surprising him some more..
Her coming so close was suddenly making him feel..He did not know what he was feeling,as her beautiful floral and something else fragrance was making him feel so good..
He was loving the feel of her soft body against his hard one..
His eyelids had suddenly become so heavy,as his breathing and heartbeat accelerated..
With hot eyes now,he looked down at her,mesmerized by her beauty,by her fragrance,and her angry stance only seemed to make her look so much more beautiful..
He sighed out,as a soft silly grin came on his lips..
Suddenly Veera cupped his bearded cheek with both hands,and pulled his face closer to hers..
"Baldeva!Aise bewakoof ki tarha hass kiu raha hai?Main ki tainu cartoon dikhta hoon?!
[Baldeva!Why are you smiling like a stupid?Am I looking like a cartoon to you?!]"She hissed out angrily.
Baldev could not hear a word of what she had just said..
His eyes looked deeply into hers,and then lowered to her lips,so close to his..
He took in a deep breath,and hot tendrils of current seemed to pass through his entire body,as he felt his warm breath mingling with hers..
Her soft hands against his rough bearded cheek,made him feel all the more better..
He looked st her soft lips,her perfect white teeth..
Her soft lips were moving,and saying something to him..Saying something..
"BALDEVA!!!Am I saying something to you..?!!!!"
This time he snapped out of the trance,and tried to remove his hand and move away from her instantly..
Veera now grabbed the collar of his kurta,and pulled his face closer to hers again..
"Baldeva!Tainu mei dikhta hoon ki nai?!Kaab se puche ja rahi hoon,koi jawaab hi nai de rahi hai tu!"She said in an angry voice,but this time there was a trace of hurt on her voice too..
Baffled Baldev,stared into her beautiful eyes..
Is she crazy?!I don't see her?!All these days I'm trying my best to act as if she does not matter to me,and trying my best to keep my eyes off her,and she says I don't see her?!!He thought in confusion..
Something squeezed at his heart,as he noticed the troubled look in her eyes,as he did not respond to her question again..
The slight hurt look,that passed in her angry eyes did not escape his notice..
Just as he was about to open his mouth to reply,she let go of his collar and pushed him away from her..
He staggered backwards,nearly losing his balance at the sudden push..
Amazed he watched,as she stood seething,and nearly burning him alive with her angry look..
He was about to step closer,and say something,when she spoke up..Her words stunning him..
"Darpok kahi ka!Khud ko Sher kehke firta hai!Aur aukad aur sahas ek billi ka bhi nai!
[Coward!Always calling himself Lion!And doesn't even have the capability or courage of a cat!]"She said through clenched teeth,before she turned and ran away..
Baldev stood shocked like as statue,still reeling from her words..
Then slowly,his lips curled up,his eyes were burning furious,his jaw clenched tight,and his hand tightened into fists,as he stared at the place where she had been standing a few seconds ago..
"Tainu pata nai Veera..Ek Sher jab apni aukaad pe a jata hai to ki kar sakta hai..!Tainu Sher ka aukad dekhna hai na..To mainu to tussi Sher banke dikhana hi parega..!
[You don't know Veera..When a Lion has to show its capability,what it can actually do..!You want to see a Lion's capability..So I'll have to become the Tiger I am and show you..!]"He said softly,as his eyes burned with rage,and an evil smile came on his lips..
Veera threw bangles on the floor forcefully,hating their sound as they tinkled,and some of them broke into pieces..
As she pouted her lips grouchily,and wiped off a lone tear that had formed at the corner of her eye,she thanked God,that had her friends had all left early this morning to visit another friend in another village..She did not want to face any of them,and explain why she was so distressed..When she herself did not know the reason behind it..
Angrily she sat in front of the dressing table,and started opening her long plait..
STUPID!STUPID!STUPID VEERA!She cursed herself looking at her reflection in the mirror angrily.
She had wanted to seduce him,and instead had come back fighting with him..!How could she be so idiotic as that?!
What happens to her every time he goes near him..?!Why did she ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS lose control on herself and her emotions whenever she was near him..?!
Angrily she tried to pull her plait forward,but it seemed her hair had gotten stuck on the zipper,at the back of her kameez..
Frustratedly she tried to set her hair free,but only ended up hurting herself,as her hair was pulled at the roots..
"Hai O Rabba!Aab main ki kara..?!
[Oh God!What do I do now..?!]"She moaned out,when suddenly her eyes fell on a dark shadow standing behind her through the mirror..
A soft gasp escaped her lips,as the person behind her came closer..And then his hand closed on top of hers trying to disentangle her hair..
Slowly he knelt down,and removed her hand from top of her hair entangled with her zipper..
"Tainu kuch nai karni paregi..Mainu karne de..
[You don't have to do anything..Let me do it..]"His husky voice sent waves of electricity along her tingling nerves,as his burning eyes held her wide open ones through the mirror..
