MBAs from other universities are good when you are stuck in the middle of your career and need a boost but otherwise always try to get into a premier institute for a good start and a great future😃.

When average institutes are of no value then how do you forsee any kind of boost?

BTW - What do you mean by stuck? 😕

Assuming you have seen people (atleast 3-4 ) with premier VS average schools after 5 -10 years work experience and career standing to make this statement "MBA from any school is almost equal to no MBA and doesn't add any value. "

If a pupils are good then premier or average institue doesn't matter, yes this is general statement. Premier institute, Good start doesn't necessary gaurantee great future.

When I wrote that highlighted part I was referring to those who are planning to do MBA right after graduation as in India. So I thought they should try IIM, XLRI and other premier institutes. The programs there are not overrated and the diploma you get is worth something. When I mentioned stuck in the middle I meant that someone who wants to change a career or give a boost to it. Boost to it doesn't mean wealth wise but a refreshing change in the career. For them any MBA is fine because it is difficult to go through full time strenuous course of a business school.

We can always agree to disagree on such topics😛.

oh i dont know about lucrative and all that. MBA is just one way to skin a cat, though often a pretty good one. 😊

with top schools, in particular, one can get onto certain fast-track careers such as venture capital, risk arbitrage or mergers and acquisitions. but these careers are still just possibilities, not guarantees for everyone. of course, the premier school tag tends to stay with one forever and that tag, together with the network, helps.

wholly aside from the monetary aspects, there's the fuzy stuff- personality development. 😆 over the bschool years, especially if the program is case-oriented, one develops some new tricks. these include the ability to sell effectively to potential employers and prospective brides. if that seems worthwhile, go for it. 😉 😆

😆 I can absolutely relate to this!😉

My study group in the B school consisted of an IIT topper and ex HLL guy, an REC topper, a CA topper and a St. Steven/ Oxford economics graduate who was also an ex Big 5 consultant. All my learning happened during the group studies and I picked a lot from my group mates. The small tips they gave me on how to prepare a repot or how to tackle figures are the ones that I find the most useful still. Needless to sayI have forgotten all I learnt in the classrooms!😃
