Like a "maun-brat", willing for the show to get the entirety of the Benazir fiasco over with as soon as they can, in exchange for my unscathed silence. Needless to say, that didn't work out well. But, then again, karma has never been eminently fond of me. 😆
I thought that this tangle of tracks would be unraveled by the CV's in not more than two weeks. I had to eat my words..er, thoughts. The last months or so was frustrating and I almost, ALMOST stopped watching the show. 😡
But, why am I making a new post now?
That's because, I can see the light at the end of the dark tunnel of letters, misunderstandings, and wheezing Vishkanyas. The Vishkanya track is finally approaching it's imminent end. (We all knew it would end at one point, just not when.) With one of the loose ends tied, the CV's could maybe finally move on to clearing the misunderstanding of epic proportions between our hopeless protagonists. I am contradicting myself when I say "hopeless", because, it is hope that makes me watch this serial everyday at 8. I do retain hope that these two lost souls would somehow persevere against odds and find their way to each other, while not boring us too much with interludes (an interlude from romance 😛) of the likes of this.
Just a spare thought about Benazir, that could be interpreted as well-meaning advice or unnecessary acrimony :
Please, for the love of GOD, stop panting. It makes me nauseous. And, WHAT IS UP WITH THAT GREEN VOMIT? And, you, Benazir, are an absolute embarrassment for the society of assassins, if anything like that happens to exist. And, this is for the wardrobe stylist, are you BLIND? Can you not see the love handles that are gratuitously emphasized because of that sheer bikini-slash-blouse from the universe of Horrendous-Fashion-Sense?
Thank you for keeping up with my ranting.
Let's move on to the protagonists now.
Akbar : Shehenshah Jallal-ud-din Mohammad, more famously known as Akbar is one of my favorite historical characters. I have read a lot about him. And, that is why with such certainty I say, he wasn't an idiot. This rendition of Akbar is an imbecile. If I wanted to watch shows that stimulated my brain cells and made me philosophize or ruminate about world peace or something, I would. But, it is with the expectation of witnessing firsthand, what probably was one of the greatest love stories in history, albeit on celluloid, that I started watching this serial. I am terribly disappointed. But, as I've said, I maintain an inexhaustible (almost) repertoire of hope that somewhere along the line, he will manage to collect his lost wits and be the great, gallant and intellectual human being that Akbar was.
Jodha : Let's just say I'm not terribly fond of how Jodha always ends up with convicting evidence against perpetrators and then runs right to the person in question to confront him/her. Why can you not keep your thinking cap on for all the while, and not turn it off like a switch?
Ways this track could have progressed :
1) Jalal makes Jodha jealous by flirting with Benazir.
2) Jodha burns in the green fire of envy.
3) Meanwhile, Benazir plots to kill Jalal.
4) Jalal's spies, who are spread throughout his entire empire, inform him of an assassin running loose in his palace.
5) Jalal investigates.
6) Jalal grows suspicious of Benazir, but does not have enough credible evidence to accuse her.
7) Jodha chances upon the information about Benazir's ulterior motive.
8) Jodha solves the riddle and witnesses the act of "vish-paan". She becomes certain.
9) She takes all the evidence that she has gathered to Jalal.
10) They compile everything they have against Benazir and make a convincing case against her.
11) Jodha gets in the good books of Jalal, again.
12) She says it was never her intention to mislead Jalal into thinking that she harbored anything but respect and liking for Jalal.
13) Jalal pieces back the torn letter with Rahim and has the latter read it out aloud.
14) Jalal becomes distrustful of Maham Anga.
15) Jalal and Jodha finally overcome this challenge and move on to finding love.
That would have made hundreds of viewers happy.
