What nonsense!!I have been a constant reader on this forum and I quite enjoy the parodies on the characters and series written by forum members. They are very amusing and entertaining. That's an another thing that I don't comment on them because I haven't got the time nor I have such a creative mind to come up with such hilarious ideas. But lately I have been going through the threads of the forum and this one thing agitates and boils my blood in anger. Some members are constantly saying that "King Puru helped or fought alongside Alexander to further extend his empire into the interior of our great country, which is so not true!!!"If it wouldn't have been for the sane brains of Alexander's Army and Commanders,Alexander would have committed utter folly by pushing further and marching inwards into our country. That would have been one of the world's greatest military disasters equivalent to the "failed invasion of Russia by Napolean and Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany" One of the ancient greek historians Plutarch quotes so:
"As for the Macedonians, however, their struggle with Porus blunted their courage and stayed their further advance into India. For having done all they could do to repulse an enemy who mustered only twenty thousand infantry and two thousand horse, they violently opposed Alexander when he insisted on crossing the river Ganges also, the width of which, as they learned, was thirty-two furlongs, its depth a hundred fathoms, while its banks on the further side were covered with multitudes of men-at-arms and horsemen and elephants. For they were told that the kings of the Ganderites and Praesii were awaiting them with eighty thousand horsemen, two hundred thousand footmen, eight thousand chariots, and six thousand fighting elephants."

If he would have gone through with this plan then he would have been known as KIB(Killed in Battle) Alexander the Great!!!

But its not written anywhere that King Puru helped him.It is possible that he may have subdued local tribes along the way to replenish their food supplies. But there's no mention of King Puru fighting battles with him.

As per Greeks king porus was a legend...he took Alexander and his army to the brink of defeat...he fought with great valour ...he won even though he lost the battle...

As per Indian historians and folktales king porus helped him beyond Jhelum...

See the difference ...

I never read about any Indian Historian mentioning anything about King Puru helping Alexander. But yes Alexander did not have the might of conquering whole of India.Lets end it at this.
