This apart, Deepika, this is not a battle according to the rules of war. This is an ambush by Puru. Alexander was not coming there prepared for a battle at all. So the rules of war don't apply, and that would include the sunset rule.
If Puru stays, what can he do? He does not have the armed strength to take on Alexander, and most of the Dasyus will probabl y get killed. If what LuckySnow has seen is there in the telecast, he must have beat what is called a strategic retreat, to live to fight another day.
I see your point that he should not let himself be called a bhagoda, though in guerrilla attack, this concept does not apply. It is Porus who has created this bhagoda problem for himself by getting on to that elephant and threatening Alexander. By doing so, he made an ambush attack look like a regular battle.
Incidentally, as inlieu had noted, the David-Goliath scene of Akexander on the ground vs Porus on the elephant was excellent. And you know who won that encounter!😉😉
