Update for Fri Mar3-2006

Saraswathi's house

Continuation of yesterday's scene with Sundari telling Saras that depending on her was her big blunder and she leaves angrily.
Watching the scene from behind is thulasi. When Saras sees her, she tries to explain away some excuse about some distant relation, sundari has to go away etc. But thulasi cuts her short saying she heard everything and proceeds to fall on her MIL's feet. She then says please excuse me for whatever bad I have spoken against you. Now only I realised about your true good heart. You are so much taking care about my sister's marriage and interested in me also.Saras then tells her to get ready for going to the hospital.
Saras and Thulasi then leave by auto and FIL asked to come by walk since Saras does not want 3 people to go together for such a thing..


Amala's house

Shiva comes and sees Amala looking a bit serious. He asks her why u did not go to college. She says dad is out of station and I have to manage the business also. All responsibility is on me,she grumbles. Now shiva says he had a dream last night that you will be struggling like this and that is why I came so fast. today. She is not impressed with such an obvious buruda and does n't respond.. Shiva asks why u are angry and she says she does n't like people who are deceit and tell lies. She then says why u told ur home town is Coimbatore when it was actually some small village near Chingleput (she can't get N/puram name right). Now Shiva says his native place is actually Coimbatore but he is now settled in N/Puram. She does n't seem to believe him and so he says again and again idhu sathiyam,idhu sathiyam. (shiva is of course expert in telling this word!). Now Shhiva is asking for the key to the outhouse so that he can get ready to drop her. Amala slowly seems to accept his words and looks a bit thoughtful

Temple

Vidya is waiting in temple for Ramesh with the archanai tray in hand.. Some acquaintances ask her why she is waiting and still carrying the archanai tray. She awkwardly says she is waiting for her sister. But we see Ramesh watching all this from a distance but does not make any move to come near Vidya. After some time, Vidya starts to leave and then Ramesh comes in running to her. He asks her why she is leaving. she says she was waiting for more than 30 mts. He says I was here only all the time but I would have waited for whole night even if required but see what u are doing, u are not prepared to wait for more than 30 mts-he tells her. Then he says don't behave like this in future. (very sadistic!).
Now he wants to talk with her but finding continually disturbed by passers-by, he asks her whether they can go to some place other than thistemple to talk. Vidya takes him to a big well where they sit on the steps. ramesh asks her whether u have come here before.. Now she remembers about her romantic meetings with Ashok but says she has come with her sister to this place.
Ramesh now asks her why she agreed to marry him. She says the way he handled the proposal through his parents impressed her. He again asks whether she agreed because he had lot of money,owning textile shops etc. She says not like that. Now he tells about the fight between him and his father and says he wants to repay the loss in Surat operation and then he may or may not be reconciled with his father and so he may or he may not have the shop,however he will try to manage.. For him, his prestige,ego is at stake. Seeing her silent, he asks her why. She says she is sad to hear about the differences between him and his father. Then she eagerly asks whether she can ask her father to mediate. Now Ramesh gets very angry and says whatever he says is between them only and you should not spill a word to anyone..He says he is trying to be very transparent to her and he expects vidya also to be transparent to him and not carry any secrets with her. Hearing this, vidya looks obviously perturbed..

Hospital

Thulasi/Saras are in hospital. Saras tells the doctor that after 6 years of marriage, thulasi has not become pregnant. I am considering you as Goddess, please show mercy on us and give this boon. Doctor tells her to wait outside while she examines thulasi.
Outside, saras is joined by her husband who came by walk. Now an elderly couple holding a baby comes and gives sweets to them.. Saras asks whether the baby is their grand child. They say however that it is their child. They got it after 15 years of marriage, thanks to this kairaasi doctor. Saras looks very happy and tells her husband that see, this doctor is so good, . Her husband however says see, these people got their child after 15 yrs and so why we should think about thulasi not getting child after only 6 yrs. Saras as usual tells him to shut up his mouth,which as usual he does very promptly.
Now the doctor is seen with thulasi after the examination and tells her that people who come to the hospital are always prepared to hear good as well as bad news and she expects thulasi also to be like that.. Next the bombshell comes for thulasi.. Doctor says there are 80% chances that thulasi cannot get pregnant.
Hearing thulasi is shattered and she feels as if the world is breaking in her mind.

Update for Mon Mar 6-2006

Thulasi with the doctor who tells her the most frightful news about
being 80% sure that Thulsi cannot get pregnant. Thulasi seeing the
gravity of the situation for her, pleads with the doctor, even falls
on her feet and tells her to hide it from her MIL. Doctor says if we
explain properly, in-laws will take it in the proper spirit. Thulasi
says you have to help me out. Doctor says if I tell the wrong thing,
and if found out, it will be a blemish for the hospital.But Thulasi
keeps on requesting her and the doctor reluctantly agrees.
Now the MIL comes in and doctor tells her that thulasi has a slight
problem which can be set right by medicines and after that she can
conceive children. MIL says very eagerly whether after taking
medicines, her DIL immediately will conceive. Doctor looking at
Thulasi says reluctantly yes to that.
Saras's husband buys the medicines and they go home.

In NK's house, NK's wife,Malliga,Revathy are talking about the
arrangements for marriage and how much work is there for the ladies of
the house.
Vidya is seen sneaking into the house and everyone asks her why she
has taken lot of time. Her mother says girls to be married are kept at
home so that they will not become dark (!) and why u are going out.
She says she went to temple with Karpagam. Now we see Karpagam comes
in and tries to ask vidya where were you and even the archanai is not
done but seeing the signal from Vidya takes her in and asks her where
did u go.
Vidya says she was called by ramesh and she was there with him only.
She also says Ramesh only had called the previous day pretending to be
from comedy time. Karpagam advises her not to go like that in future.
She also wanted to know whether Ramesh has read the letter sent by
Ashok. Vidya says it looks as if Ramesh has not seen it.

Now we see the catering contractor for the marriage coming to NK"s
house and he gives back his advance and says he is backing out and
does not give any reason. Sivagami refuses to accept the money and
says how u can do like this, marriage is approaching and what we will
do now. He refuses to accept what she is saying, saying if he falls
ill , what they will do.Sivagami says u took the money from NK and u
return to him. But somehow he keeps the money in her hand and runs away.
On his way out, he sees NK/Saminathan and NK asks him whether all
marriage arrangements are being done by him. He stammers and says I
have told ur house people and u go and ask them and runs off.
Now Nk goes in and he is told by Sivagami abt what happened.
saminathan says kadhir must be behind this. NK now says we have to
find an alternative and he gives sami some money and asks him to go
and find some other contractor.

Shanmugam comes home and tells them he came home for some thing but
found the house locked—where you people went, he asks. His mother says
they went to the temple. He asks which temple is open at 1.30 in the
afternoon.
Thulasi now tells shan privately about some old conversation and says
if they don't have children, whether they will be satisfied with each
other. Shan asks why u are talking about these things—whether my
mother asked u anything or what? Thulasi does not answer directly.
Before this conversation, thulasi was asked by MIL whether she is
taking medicines properly. Thulasi says yes.
But now we see thulasi's FIL searching for his sugar tablets and not
finding it, asks Saras to find out.
Saras searches and does not find the sugar tablets and he says we can
buy it tomorrow. But now she finds Thulasi's tablet strips as it was
bought and she is shocked that thulasi is lying to her that she has
taken the tablets.

Fine update,Simi specially all the headings--Saras on the way towards Kali!--I liked that.

Darshini's dad coming for the 1st time in the serial (I think) and seems to be pretty opportunistic where as his wife is shown to be more ruthless to achieve what she wants.

Update for Fri Mar 17-2006 (More tears for Thulasi)

Police station

Kadhir is outside somewhere with his mama. Police constable comes and says inspector wants to see you because koundars sons have made a complaint about siva being beaten by you. Kadhir says what is this, for beating in the morning they are complaining in the evening—something fishy. Mama then says he realizes something and says now it is Friday evening and if you are arrested, then you can be kept inside till Monday because courts are closed for the week end.—this is their plan, he says.But Kadhir then goes with the police and tells mama to inform Ramesh about this matter.

Kadhir enters the station and sees all the Kounder sons there. The inspector knows kadhir and so talks pleasantly to him. Moorthy gets angry and tells the inspector to take action against kadhir. The inspector tells him to keep quiet and hears from both parties about what happened. He then says it is a matter which shd rather be settled outside between you two. Bhaskar/moorthy get angry and said when Siva beat up Kadhir earlier, you made a case and you put him in jail and now why are you partial? Moorthy now talks about complaining to a Police SP whom he knows.
At this time, Kadhir's mama enters and nods significantly to kadhir that he has passed the information. Now a ring comes in Bhaskar's mobile and kadhir realizing whose call taunts bhaskar saying you were going to complain to SP, see now supreme court judge is calling you. Ring is passing and bhaskar murmurs to moorthy that it is ramesh and we also see the picture of Ramesh holding the phone and impatiently waiting for bhaskar to answer. kadhir keeps on egging bhaskar to answer the phone saying supreme court judge is waiting! Bhaskar finally answers the phone and then makes a pretence of being unable to hear ramesh and keeps the phone down.. Now the matter was again at a standstill and moorthy says he will tell SP. The police inspector now takes kadhir separately and tells him he is awaiting a promotion and he does not want any bad remarks from SP now. So it is better you stay as a guest of me here for 3 days and after that we will deal with these 3 sons.Kadhir agrees.
Inspector goes in and tells everyone that he is arresting kadhir and FIR will be filed. Kounder's sons are satisfied and leave the station. kadhir calls moorthy and tells him that u have put me inside and u just see what will happen.

Thulasi's house

Thulasi packing along with FIL for going to marriage. Saras comes in like a bhadrakaali and takes stock of the situation. She sees tulasi packing and asks her verty gently whether you have packed the medicines. Tulasi's breath almost stops when she hears this and she tries to make a pretence of searching. Unable to find it, she says it may be inside. Saras obligingly says go and look inside. Thulasi looks in the cupboard and finds the medicines gone. She is shocked and now Saras comes there holding the medicines and asked her whether these are the medicines you are searching?
Thulasi gets more scared and begs forgiveness from Saras. But Saras says she has come to know everything and has already found that these medicines are mere vitamin tablets and she has confronted the doctor who has told her it is 75% sure that tulasi cannot conceive. Tulasi seeing that everything is known to Saras tells her crying that she was afraid about what Saras may tell her to leave the house..Saras says you have not asked for a boon that you cannot conceive—it is rather your body ailment, that is all.
Saras's husband now comes near her and tells her that we will deal with the matter after marriage and see what to do later. Saras tells husband that she is also telling the same thing –let thulasi go for the marriage and we will see later. Now she tells thulasi ,u just go and pack up.
Next she sees thulasi packing only 4 sarees and tells her why u have packed only 4 sarees, you have to pack at least 10-12 sarees. Thulasi looks stunned and Saras herself starts packing more sarees and tells thulasi that after marriage you have to stay till vidya goes to her husband's house and your parents will be very sad on seeing vidya go and so u have to console them. For all these things,you have to stay for some more days.
Thulasi keeps on crying not knowing what to do. Now Saras tells her husband to give the bus ticket money to thulasi. Her husband says he is going with her and why you want me to give the money to her?
Saras says let thulasi go alone to N/Puram, it is only nearby, we will rather go together tomorrow and then only we will get respect. Now the money is given to thulasi and she leaves crying all the way.

Saras's husband then tells her that indha ponnu oru visheshathukku pogumbodhu ippadi azha vakkaradhu sariyillai . Saras replies that ingiye koodiyaseekiram vishesham nadakkum. Her husband understood what she is talking and just murmurs "shanmugham" and Saras says he is my son and she knows how to make him come round.

Monday (03-20-06 Update)

Scene 1

Siva and brothers come home and Sivagami is asking what happened to Siva. Bhaskar tells that they went to ask kadhir about the 1 lakh and he hit him. Ramesh calls Bhaskar and asks if he is getting proper signal at home and shouts at him and asks him to give the phone to Vidhya. Ramesh tells Vidhya yr brother has given a complaint about kadhir knowing that he is my friends. He repeats that he doesn't like her brothers attitude and asks her to tell her brother to take the complaint back. Vidhya diplomatically tells hi that when he has some problem with his dad he told her not to interfere and now the problem is between him and her brother how can she interfere. Ramesh didn't like this reply and told ok he know now how to handle the situation and disconnects. Sivagami asks Vidhya why did she talk so disrespectful towards mapillai and she says he told me to ask anna to take back the complaint. Sivagami asks how come ramesh know what is happening in Nachiyarpuram. Then Bhaskar tells kadhir is his friend and he has been calling and giving all information. NK walks in and shouts at his sons for lodging a complaint against kadhir and asks them to go right now and withdraw the complaint. None of his sons move and so he walks straight to the police station and tell the inspector to withdraw the complaint. But the inspector tells since his sons gave the complaint they have to withdraw it and he can't do that. Kadhir is hearing all this conversation and tell the inspector that NK is a kiladi, first he will tell his sons to give a complaint and then he will come and withdraw it alter to show he is a nice guy. NK just listens to his comments.

Scene 2

Ramesh's dad is chatting with his BIL and shradha come and calls him to give dresses to workers for the wedding. Ramesh's brother comes and shouts at him saying why he didn't come down when they were giving clothes to employees, he should be there as it is his wedding. He then goes down and all r waiting for ramesh. Sharadha shows the kurai podavai and thalli and one of the female finds out that there is a small problem with the Thali and there is a scratch or something. Sundari take advantage of this and tells this is not a good sign. Sundari 's husband tells we will have a new one and then do some Pariharam.
Ramesh tells his parents that he is going our for a bachelors party and his parents r not very pleases but he says he wants to enjoy so he need to go.
(I missed quite a bit during this scene so someone please fill in)

Scene 3

Karpagam comes to give her right blouse size but the tailor tells he can not do it and he already cut the sizes. Karpagam is upset and asks him to do whatever he feels right and walks away. NK and all his friends r chatting and NK asks Sundareshan to come to the field to ask if they need anything. While they leave Thulasi walks in and NK asks her to go inside. Thulasi tell Sivagami to come inside as she needs to talk something. Then Karpagam comes in and cries that since morning she had so much work so now the tailor is not ready to make my new jacket. Sivagami says this is no a big issue at all u pl go and make dosai for mallika' s parents as they r hungry and Karpagam tells why should she do everything in this house isn't mallika there. Sivagami tells she is having headache and Karpagam taunts for that also and so mallika comes and tell she will do it. Then Thulasi starts to talk, Vidhya comes and asks she is confused which saree to wear so to come and help her decide. Sivagami then tell Thulasi that they can talk in the morning and leave. Thulasi is crying.

Breif update

Visitors arrive for the kalyanam
karpagam throws a tantrum & starts hitting her daughter who wants to wear the clothes bought by mallika's dad
NK raises his hand against karpagam & is embarassed, & karapgam's parents leave as they think NK shouldnot have raised his hands.
Karpagam who was wanting to go with them in the last minute decides to stay
pandi calls the cook to make sure he is ready to play his role
ramesh & co arrive to the wedding hall , ramesh his orrru uuu munji and questins bhaskar about cutting his call

oh also saras warns shanmugamfrom gong to the wedding if he goes he will only see her dead body

Update for Wed Mar22-2006--as much as I could remember

Scene 1

Ramesh talks to Bhaskar (continuation of previous day) and tells him
he is very unhappy with his behaviour. Tells him kadhir is his friend
and u should have listened to me.He says he thought he had 3
bros-in-law who will help him out and it does not seem to be the case.
bhaskar says about their problems with kadhir but ramesh is unwilling
to hear.
Now cook pichandi and the dumb assistant come in and ask what does the
mapillai want. Ramesh wants filter coffee and cook says only instant
coffee available. bhaskarshouts at the cook and says you shd provide
what mapillai wants. Ramesh cuts himshort and says tea is ok. The cook
points out Ramnesh to his assistant saying this is mapillai.

Scene 2

Shan at home thinking abt what happened. Images of thulasi telling him
she is happy about his buying the rings for Revathi/vidya float
through and even these images are interrupted by his mother. Shan's
father sits out in distress and Saras asks why you and Shan are both
behaving like this ?
Her husband says we are like robots (toys) behaving at your whim

Scene 3

Shan's friend Durai (name not sure) comes and asks shan why uhave not
yet gone for the marriage. Shan explains everything and tells him to
attend the marriage on his behalf and gives the rings to him to be
given at the time of muhurtham only. Till then he should give some
excuse to thulasi and others that shan will come at any time.
Durai accepts reluctantly. Saras gives a triumphant look on seeing
that shan will not be going.

Scene 4

Sundari/husband in a room and husband asks where is darshini. She says
she has gone to parlour for dressing up like a bride so that we can
push her in as a bride at the right tme.

Scene 5

NK and family come in and are welcomed by Ramesh's parents. NK
apologises for being late. Ramesh's father asks Karpagam whether the
yellow sarees to be worn for reception or muhurtham. Karpagam says for
muhurthm only.

Scene 6

Ramesh with his friends in a card party. NK visits him and enquires
whther everything is ok,. Ramesh answers politely and some of him
friends tease him about being so polite now itself.

Scene 7

Darshini comes in straight from thr parlour accompanied by Ramesh's
brother. Sundari sees that no one is there to welcome them and starts
a big fight and tells NK in front of Ramesh's parents that you have
all insulted us. Some proper person shd have have been at the entrance
to welcome and in reply NK says bhaskar was there. Sundari asks who is
bhaskar. The situation going out of hand, her brother intervenes and
tells her to keep quiet and go inside.
NK starts to scold bhaskar as to why he is not present at the entrance
always. His sambandhi pacifies him.

Scene 8

Cook followed by his assistant brings filter coffee to Ramesh and
again points out Ramesh to his assistant and tells him he is mapillai
and you have to give special care.

Scene 9

Shan starts to dress up and leave. Saras asks him where he is going.
He says he is going to bus depot for duty as he is fed up sitting
here. She suspects he is going to marriage as she says this is not the
1st time u have disobeyed me. He says u are trying to tie me down by
blackmail thinking it is affection. Saras tones down her language a
little bit and says thulasi told a lie and we want vamsa vritthi and
for you only I am doing all this.
Now shan says I am going for duty only and if u want u can check in
the depot.

thanks dasa, I liked the shans dialgoues inthe end,where in he says that he will always be by him mom no matter what, but that willnot be due to love for his mother. And asked her to look around as to what she has achieved, allthat she has got by her attitude was nothing but misery and lonliness
