CHAPTER 3

Sugni took the phone from Vickram and dialed the only person she could at this point. Amma answered the phone in that sing song voice she had, like a little girl in a fifty year old body. At one time that always amused Sugni, today it was the only hope she had at the moment.
"A-Amma?" She said
"YOU! Oh My God Where are you?? Are you ok? Listen Divakar had gone mad, he is looking all over for you right now he has men here watching this place like a hawk, I am telling you he is spoiling my livelihood with his goons!" Amma said. Before Sugni could respond she continued.
"Look Sugni things are bad now...if you come here he will kill you and me...I am sorry I never thought he would turn out like this...Look this is the last place you should be, and if they knew I was talking to you ..Oh Lord..."
"But Amma, I don't have any..."
"I know, I swear if I could honey, I would come get you , you know that but right now I have goons with guns watching everything I do. There is a place you can go where you should be safe it is far away from here but if you get there he won't be able to touch you for sure."
"Where?" Sugni asked helplessly...the only home she ever had was with Amma ..good or bad...and Amma was the only one that took care of her and made sure she did not face a lot of trouble.
"Oh Lord...I have a friend who runs an establishment looking he is looking for some one...he will take care of you...his name is Adi... He lives at Tiger Town, just get to Retro street and you will find him, you won't miss it. His place carries his name." She told her
"Got it" she said as she memorized it.
"What about money you have any?"
"No ..Amma I how will..."
"OH God! Listen I need to hang up, they are coming!... just remember the place...you can get there some how I am sure. tell him I sent you...I will talk to him,...be safe OK ... and Honey I am so sorry ! Love you. Ohh and try not to call , they are watching the lines." The line went dead.

Well like every thing else that to did not go as planned, she was hoping that Amma would tell her a way out of this. All she go was a place to go and no how to get there.
"So?" he asked.
"I need to go to Tiger Town" She said..."do you know where that is?"
"Tiger Town? That is a three day straight drive from here." he said
She looked shell shocked.
"You have some one there?"
"Yes"
Ok first things first, we need to get you some clothes and some breakfast ok then we'll see what to do' he said as he made his way back to the front of the jeep.
An hour after Sugni was sitting in a cafe table eating a meal, dressed in a brand new pair of comfortable jeans and a plain blue tea shirt. Some how Vickram managed to convince an old lady to allow Sugni to use her bathroom to freshen up, after which he came here and ordered her breakfast which she gratefully ate.
She was still wondering why he was being so kind to her, what was his motive, she was sure he had one, they always do...

"So" Vickram Said as he finish her meal. " How did you end up on this side of the country from tiger town?" He was very curious to know what was her story. He also really wanted to take her to a police station, but he had a feeling she would not like that, he saw that by chance when she almost ran into an officer and got all jumpy.

"I -I don't know"
"You don't know?" he asked shocked.
"Look Sugni, it is very obvious that some one hurt you, and you are in very deep trouble. Maybe just maybe I can help you, but to do that you need to tell me what happened...how did you end up in my jeep?" he asked .

He did help her out , and so far he has been nothing but kind to her, maybe she could tell him part of the story. She has to tell him something. Taking a breath she said, "I was hiding from them! Your jeep was the closest thing."

"Who were they? why were they after you?" He asked.

"His name was Divakar, and he brought me here on a trip, it was supposed to be a nice get away...but...but...it all went wrong ... He started acting all weird and was being horrible then he said if I didn't obey him he would ..." She was starting to panic.

"hey shhh... Ok ...Ok .I get the picture so this Divakar is he your boyfriend?" He asked . Closing her eyes , taking a breath to compose herself, she decided to go with his assumption, it might be safer if he thought she had a crazy boy fried. She nodded.

"Well after last night, you should have enough sense to dump him I hope" he said seriously.
"So you ran like that?"
" I did'nt know what else to do..he was getting crazier saying crazy things .I couldn't say there, so when he left the room, I took a chance and ran I didn't have time to think or anything...and you know what happened next." She said.

"Well we should inform the police , he should be arrested for what he did to you...in fact lets go now."
"NO! " She said "Please No police...please please"
"Calm down Shhh..." he said looking around the diner , thankfully her out burst was not drawing attention. He couldn't handle tears.
"I --I just need to figure out a way to get to Tiger Town.. and I'll be fine..he wouldn't know where I was...Amma said" She told him.
"Amma? the person on the phone?"
"She is like my mother...She told me I would be safe there...She never lies" she said with confidence.
"So why not go to Amma instead?" he asked
"Because he is already making trouble for her...! I know you can't understand it but I can't involve the police...I can't" She was about to cry again.
"Ok Ok" He said. He knew there was more to this story, but he would not push it. Some how he was felling responsible for her. He figured if she thought her best option was Tiger Town and she seem to trust this Amma person, then e would at least make sure she got to Tiger Town safely

Reaching into his pocket he pulled out his walled and took out a few Hundred dollar bills., "Here hold this" he said holding the money out to her.
She did not budge, she looked at his hand and him suspiciously..."Why?" she said uncomfortably squirming in the chair.
"How do you expect to get there , if you have no money?" He pointed out the obvious.
"How much dose it cost? She asked ...that was a whole lot of taxi fare!.
"Well it is a two day trip, you might need a place to rest, not to mention food and maybe some clothes..this should cover it."
"I --I can't take your money...I mean..."
"So what you plan to walk the while way? or you plan on hitching a ride? and probably get picked up by a psycho!?" he said, reminding her of what she thought of him, was it this morning.
reluctantly she took the money from him." Ok ...well lets got to the bus station and figure out how to travel ok?" He smiled.
"Thank you " She said gratefully...
"It's ok... let's go"

Half Hour later Sugni was armed with paper full of directions to Tiger Town, bus schedules , as well as a few basic items that served as her new wardrobe. "Well that's it then." Vickram said as she took a seat to await the next bus she had an hour wait.
'Thank You" She said as she smiled. "You've been very kind"
"It's ok" he said..."Just stay away from that guy OK..."
She nodded.
"I'll leave you now, the bus will be here soon...take care of your self OK"
"OK" She said. Waving her good bye he walked away. A strange feeling washed through her, she believed deeply that in this world nothing was for free...yet here was this stranger who instead of throwing her out of his van on the streets was nothing but kind to her, even when she thought he had a motive. he shocked her by demanding nothing in return.Maybe there still were a few kind people in the world, she thought. She smiled.

One hour surely took a long time to pass, Sugni thought as she looked at the clock on the wall it's been twenty minutes since she was waiting and she was getting board. watching the walls to while away time an reading the colorful posters adorning the walls...it is only so many times she would be fascinated by big Sales and the latest theater production. She thought of closing her eyes and taking a nap, but hen she tried that images of the past night stated to creep into her brain, and she did not want to think about that. Involuntarily she shuddered.

The call of her bladder , made her get up and go look for a rest room. She found one at the side of the building. The place looked deserted She made her way to the wash room, ignoring the smell as best she could . Relived when she finally walked out side. As she took two steps in the direction of the terminal she was grabbed from behind and pulled into a little alleyway.

"Hey baby, what you got for me there?" The man said welding a lethal looking knife.

OH God!!! She thought...this could not be happening!.

but Like in Hindi Movies I feel Vikram might be there some where around and he will come and save her Like a hero 😆 see I read all chapters keep it up nice story
