Maa:- Bhaiya wa very angry because he saw Digvijay twisting my arm (she lifted her pallu which revealed an ugly bruise) and saw this cut on my hand where Digvijay had slammed the lid of the suitcase and then held it shut.

I know Bhaiya should not have hit Digvijay but he hates abusive men especially whent he abuse is against women and children.
The fact I, his sister, was the woman was too much for him.

Kuhu notices Maa rubbing her hand and feels that Papaji must have hit Maa just like Digvijay hits her.

Maa I don't know why Digvijay hits me. I do everything I can not to say or do anything that annoys or upsets him.

Sometimes I feel like he just does it for fun, like he just wants to hurt me and cause me pain, like he enjoys watching me suffer.

Mahima : You know Kuhu, sometimes I feel being a thakurine is nothing but a curse, We get status and riches, but have to compete for our husbands affection with the bedni's She gets a bitter look as she thinks of Gulabiya,
And because we can't compare to these bedni's our husbands treat us like dogs! What a life!
but I learned long ago Kuhu, to live with my head held high, and make the best of what I have.
Unfortunately , my son has followed his fathers foot steps... and it on their behalf I have come here today! With a request for you!

Mehima: You may see me as silent in the house Kuhu, because I have learned long ago , speaking out is not good if you want to stay on Jwala's Takur's good side. And I have seen what they did you you in that house...I see the way he (she shudders thinking of her husband) looks at you, when he thinks no one is watching.
In the war between Jwala and Vickram, where beleive it or not, Jwala Sister was the victim because of your uncle. It has thought jwala nothing, and you have become nothing but a pawn to be used .
Every day I look at you and all I see is slowly you are turning into what I am...And Sita Miya , will not forgive my soul if I just let that happen with out trying to stop it.
The tears she was trying to stop flowed out of her eyes.
THere is no hope for me, this is my life, but you have hope, and a brother who will protect you. Please don't come back.
She folds her hands.
And If possible forgive my son, I know he is wrong, but he is still my son.

Maa today you have lived up to your promise in that hospital that you will not let anything happen to me.

Kuhu also crying hugs her and says thank you

But Maa if you go back without me will they not harm you?

Listen, do me one favor, walk out to the car with me, Ramu kaka is there and he reports everything to Jwala, can you just say no in front him when I ask you to come with me...If they found out I went against them you know...At least Ramu will say that he herd me ask you to come along...Please beta ...
She ask as she looks out to the car , she knew she would be in big trouble if Jwala found out what she went against him.
