I honestly don't think TVS understands just what an ass he's being or the way he's manipulating his power as a Thakur despite making full use of it. To him, he's doing everyhting in the name of his love - if he's trading on his thakur-iyat to hoodwink Sugni's greedy uncles and aunts then that's for the greater good of his love.
Similarly, I don't think Sugni really understands just how much she's internalized the Thakur Bedni power structure and how it plays into her worship of this man who is giving her the life she always dreamed about.
TVS has found the woman he loves and fancies and if the story he gave Gulabiya was correct then he'd decided to marry Sugni before he knew anything about his zombie wife. He wasn't planning on cheeating her from the start. But once he found out and realized Sugni would leave him, his character fell back on its entitled ways and decided all is fair in love and war.
Sugni meanwhile has no concept of equality. Her Thakur Malak will always be that and her concept of love is what he has told her and it is still a thing of fantasy because she's never seen anything of the kind in her life.
In actual fact, if TVS offered to do Sugni's sardhakai, it would be a far more honorable thing in their society because it's an actual, recognized and valued social contract for them where both parties enter with honesty, knowing exactly what to expect.
This fake second marriage is the worst thing he could do to Sugni from all angles. So yes, you're absolutely correct that today TVS didn't just fall low, he took a nosedive for the dirt and dug his way to China.😡

Well, if I try to remove the layers one by one of Thakur-Bedni (T-B) custom and thakur power structure in this village, it will take huge amount of research and digging, dating back to who knows how many years.
But for now and in the interest of brevity, suffice to say that, based on what and how each epi has depicted thus far, the entire (T-B) community has a certain personality etched so deeply in them that they cannot think themselves outside this cemented box, sadly. And since these lecherous thakurs "provide" shelter over their heads, measly food in their plates, ordinary clothes on their backs, they have incarnated as "BHAGWAN" to these Bednis.
That said and TVS fully aware of this horrendous fact, here comes Sugni in his life, a swaabhimani yet innocent, a hard working and honest, a blunt and outspoken young beautiful girl and instantly TVS falls for her cute, charming and chulbuli natkhat pure and sincere persona. And as you say, before he knew of his wife being alive, his love for her was pure and unadulterated. There was no planning or conniving or cheating on his part until that point.
And along the way, as more and more interactions started developing between TVS and Sugni, as per the "personality" described above, she naturally found him to be so non-thakur-like, different, kind, caring and treating her with utmost respect that she as Bedni never dreamt of getting, much less love. TVS noticed all these qualities in her and fell head over heels in love with her. And in time so did Sugni because she got to know "his meaning of love" the way he parroted it to her, and that became her belief. Like an article stated, she was not in love with him, she was in love with the idea of love the way TVS "taught" her it meant.
But the thakur and the "thakur-power" in him came to the surface the minute he saw his newfound love-world dwindling, when dhanuma revealed the wife still alive. And TVS didn't hesitate even for a minute to use saam daam dand bhed, all sorts of manipulations available in the book. To the point where Sugni today so much as confessed to him, that ~~ maalik, ab tak aap humse kahte aaye hain, aaj hum aapko kahte hain ... bhale hamara aapse byaah na huya ho, lekin hum mann se aapko pati maan chuke hain ...Sugni hamesa ke liya aapki ho chuki hai, hamein aapse ab koi alag nahi kar sakta, kabhi nahi ... (PERFECT MUSIC TO TVS EARS !!!)
So, perhaps today is the start of a new angle, new track, storyline and turn of events that will start unfolding and in a not-too-distant-future Sugni WILL get to know the truth. Her heart WILL break. Her dreams WILL shatter, irrespective of whether she will be already married to TVS or not.
