Its not that bad though for continuity... in the beginning Abeer did mention that Nissar was begging for work 2 years out of college. So maybe he had a desperate need for money.

I am still optimistic that Nissar is on the whole a good person. Maybe he just made a mistake.

My theory is that he told Meher the truth at the end but Meher was still upset enough to not forgive Abeer's lack of trust in her. Maybe she told Nissar that it doesn't matter because were there is no trust, there is no love. And no point in telling Abeer the truth because she doesn't want to break apart his family etc. This way even when the truth comes out it won't be about an automatic reconciliation.

Remember in the police station Meher.. said that she could say a lot about the Malhotra family too.
