A Journey Of True LOve
As Abeer was sitting in the hospital chair he couldn't stop his mind from wandering to the day he met her...
Meher and Abeer were in the same class for few lectures. Abeer never believed in love at first sight until he met her...
With the sun shining behind her she looked like an angel walking down the stairs...he immediately found out what her name was through one of her friends and all her other details.He used to sit at the same place in their class everyday just to get a glimpse of her until one of his friends urged him to go and ask her out as the year was about to end...
Though Abeer was famous as bad boy in college but in case of girls he was very shy and sanskari by nature and dated very few girls in the past...
He mustered up some courage and introduced himself and before he could open his mouth to tell his name...she said...I know... you are Abeer...the bad boy of the college...You live in the boys hostel and tomorrow you have your last exam and you have been watching me for over 3 months now...he was flabbergasted at the sudden revelation...
Okay since you already know so much of information about me...Meher...can I take you out for dinner tomorrow night????...he requested maintaining direct eye contact with her...
You have been waiting too long and I don't want to say "No"...but tomorrow soon after my exams I am leaving for Bhopal... so shall we grab something to eat at the cafeteria now?...
Meher looked so beautiful and her eyes smiled when she smiled...
Abeer's heart was beating fast and he could almost hear it...blood had rushed to his face and he knew his ears were turning red...that always happened whenever he was nervous...
Meher looked more confident than him...afterall she was the topper of the college and knew about all his badtameezi's in the college...but at the same time she was down to earth...
They went to the cafeteria to have their lunch together and she kept prodding him with questions about him and his life...while Abeer just asked her how she found out about him staring her and soon they were giggling enough on the mysteries that were unfolded by Meher...
She said she had had a good time and would see him tomorrow before she would leave and Abeer was on cloud 9 to know this...
After his exam were over...there was a class party and he had totally forgotten that Meher would meet him...
Alomst at 5:30 he ran to her classroom but it was too late...she was not anywhere...he felt his dream world crashing infront of his eyes...his heart had broken into million pieces...and he decided that he will not be returning to the college again and he was sure she would have forgotten all about him when she will come back from her vacation...but deep inside he felt there was more between them...he felt like he had known her for a very long time and they belonged to each other...he missed her terribly and sighed...stepping out of the college gate...
Few years later Abeer got a job in groove channel but Meher was still a part of his life...
His poetry...his songs...his music was only for her...about waiting for that one love that feels so true that there is no pretense or no need for explanation...
His popularity touched the heights of the sky in a short time but to him ...his one date with Meher felt like better than everyother thing in the world ...
He dated many other girls after his friends started setting him up...
He knew they thought that he was stupid pining for a woman whom he got to talk to only once...but that one time never equaled to all the hours that he spent with countless other women...
She was just a few hours away...he had contemplated many times to go to college and find her...but it was better to be in love with her in his mind and heart and his music than finding out she did not have the same feelings as he had for her...
He was fed up with his dates and refused to go out anymore when his friend begged him saying that this would be the last one...
He agreed reluctantly and went to the restaurant...
It was dimly lit and he was having goosebumps for no reason...Abeer Malhotra who had become immune to these blind dates...suddenly was feeling nervous...this really shocked him for a while...
His heart started pounding when he saw that the girl that he was meant to meet was already there waiting for him...he had purposely come 20 minutes late and so he hurried in with a big smile to apologize...
When she lifted her head...Abeer's head started spinning...he couldn't believe that he had kept the one girl waiting for 20 minutes...he had wanted to meet all these years ...
He kept smiling and nodding his head in confusion and couldn't contain his happiness on seeing her...Meher...
Yeah...Meher...How are you Abeer?...she gleamed...My friend forced me to come here...otherwise I didn't know my date would be someone I already knew...
Me either???..he sat opposite to her...and kept looking sideways trying to say something and finally he managed to ask what was bothering him for so long...Hey Meher????...
Yes Abeer???...
Did you wait for me after your exams?" Abeer asked looking in her beautiful eyes...
She gave a faint smile to him and said...do you really want to know????...
Yes because it matters a lot in my life...his eyes were still fixed on her...
Ok...she took a deep breath and spoke reluctantly...
I...I...I waited until my dad got so mad that he was almost going without me...Why didn't you come Abeer???..I waited so many hours for you ...I thought that the one date that you had with me had made you change your mind...I felt very bad though at that time...I felt we shared more than that one moment...I felt we were meant to be...I have never felt that way with anyone else so far...
She continued explaining and looked up at Abeer with tears sparkling in her eyes...
She looked as beautiful as the day that he had set his eyes on her...now she was saying the things that he had rehearsed a 1000 times to tell her when he met her...
But now he didn't care if the whole world saw him...he was in love with this girl and never wanted to lose her again...
Without wasting a second...he got down to his knees and proposed her and asked her if she would marry him...
She nodded in YES and the kiss that they shared that night in front of 100 people sealed their life together...
They got married that year...and dedicated their life to each other...
They had spent nearly half a century together...during this time they have fought many battles and made many peace treaties...
They had travelled around the globe and experienced the wonders of nature together...they had 2 kids as a proof of their love...they stood by each other during all the crest and troughs of life...seen each other's bodies transform with time...but nothing changed their love for each other...
Today may be time will finally win...Time was asking Abeer to believe that his love can cross the boundaries of this physical world...
So he walked into the ICU again...now it was for him to decide whether he wanted her to be tied to these tubes so that he can continue seeing her or let her go and believe that he will be meeting her soon...
He held her hands and spoke to her...closing her eyes with his hands...
I didn't want you to suffer anymore only because I don't want you to go...because I don't want you to leave me...few tears rolled down his eyes and he whispered removing her tubes and oxygen mask...this time I will come to you Meher ...afterall last time ka hisaab bhi tu barabar karna hai...aisey kaisey meher tum har baar win kar sakti ho...and then he wept placing his lips on her forehead for hours and hours just to join her in the next word...
LOVE IS NOT THE DESTINY BUT A JOURNEY OF LIFETIME
It is not how much love we have in the beginning, but how much love we build until the end...
