very aptly said Simran! i myself believe that if people focused on God instead of on religion, then all these tragedies and fights in the name of religion would stop across the world! i believe that no religion in this world is perfect because religions are created by man and man is not perfect. since man is not perfect, anything created by man can not be perfect! God however is perfect so we should focus our energies on God instead of on religions. i also agree with you that God is only one and all religions are different paths to the same God. i also believe that we are free to find our own path to God or to modify existing paths for self-practice according to what feels right in our hearts!
Thank You for agreeing Neel and yes I agree with you too. God is in our hearts and we should worship him however we may choose and yes no matter how many religions there might be at the end of the day all religions are teaching us to worship ONE GOD, granted people have different beliefs and values and we all should respect that.
As for marriage, yes almost ALL religions want you to marry someone of your own religion but I believe that it should be a personal decision. God judges you on the PERSON that you are not the person that you have married. As for inter-faith marriages I don't think all kids grow up confused, I have a sikh cousin who has married a hindu guy and have 2 kids, both her kids respect both religions they visit the gurduwaras and mandirs and they are not confused. I believe it all depends on what you teach your children. My neices understand that their is ONE god and there is more than one way to worship him.
I don't think god is going to judge us based on our religion, I think he will judge us on our humility.
