ya in simple words : different religions are different paths to reach to the one point (god) . in my opinion everybody have choice to pick the path whatever he wants , but he has to walk on that same path to reach the god otherwise he will get confused in his way and unable to reach his destination.

yes i agreed with "lotus" that rajbeer is not a sikh. he is just born in sikh family . There are different types of sikh now . some called them selfs sahajdhari and some are amritdhari. Amritdhari sikh have some rules that they cant break , other than that any one can do anything.

sorry but simran there is no difference in guru nanak and guru gobind singh ji.They both are same.

this has been a very interesting discussion.

one thing is very apparent though...i believe there is a lack of education about our religion out there, seeing as there are many differing views.
i mean, i agree everything is interpreted in our own way so it ends up being different.

however, i'm not sure if SGGS mentions anything about marriage and it being between different religions or not.
so it depends on what we choose to interpret...
if we look at "everyone is equal" it seems to indicate that marriage between two ppl followin diff. religions is ok.
But if you then observe that our first Guruji rejected "Brahminism"...you may get a diff. version.

But from what i get...we're taught to respect every religion, but if we're Sikh...we only bow down to SGGS. (we actually shouldn't even have paintings of our Gurus either..but... :P)

btw i'm wondering, Amritdhari Sikhs are Khalsa right? As they have to follow the 5 Ks and all.
If you have shorn hair...you are not Khalsa, but i believe you are still Sikh. As Sikhi is more than just the 5 K's. However, you are not Khalsa...so it is contestable if you should retain the "Singh" in your name.

And guys...i hope not to get any hot headed replies to this, why can't we just discuss our versions and then perhaps learn something from each other. Since no-one knows it all so perfectly. :)

And regardless of the topic starter not intending this to go on for so many pages....but either way, we are learning something new and that is always a good thing. :) (and it's still relevant to the topic of marriage...so..:P hehe)
