I think what the writer is trying to show is that the so called perfect romance where the two fell in love at first sight , were always talking about their love, were suitable status wise and were both successful ...that love could not survive the test of time and it did not have any depth in it ..
whereas the flawed forgotten love story of a mentally unstable man and an opportunist girl was the love story that stood the test of time ...that was pure love , at least from Ankita's side
