An interviewer spoke to John Travolta at amfAR gala, Cannes.

We were hovering at the reception for my mobile phone to get charged when John Travolta walked in. I just stepped forward and started a conversation. He said he was in the final stages of signing Shekhar Kapur's Paani and was hoping to be in India soon.

^^Contradiction?

I am so disappointed by this interview. He did not put in a single line about how much the critics loved SDR and hailed it as a breakthrough where Bollywood romance is concerned, or that there was a niche section who DID like the film, and that makes him happy, or something like that. He only accepted that a lot of people found the film terrible and was only justifying that part.

I agree with you on this, Nikita...why does he sound APOLOGETIC about SDR? Because some ppl he respects criticized it? But then what kind of a filmmaker are you if you can't even stand by your convictions? For that matter, Vikramaditya Motwane got a lot of criticism for Lootera too...Farah Khan called it over-rated but did he start making excuses about the treatment then?

If no one else, atleast he the person who MADE the movie should stand by it...not just sound all apologetic about the "bold" experiment he wanted to undertake...if you've gone the distance, made the whole movie then stand by it, man. What is all this business about hurting SENTIMENTS? Seriously cuz the movie didn't follow the typical candyfloss bollywood happily ever after formula?

As if every movie Anurag Kashyap has ever made is solid gold *rolls eyes*

I actually edited out original post a number of times. In the original version I had called him an ass!😆

But seriously, WORD to everything you've said and this was my thought too. While I appreciate it when filmmakers accept the flaws in their movie, I also believe one can stand by his film and his thought process at the same time, the way directors like Vishal Bhardwaj, Motwane etc do. -they accept it and YET they point out the positives about their film, emphasize on the fact that the film was appreciated by a certain section and for the large part they would have made the film similarly next time again no matter what bcos they believed in it. They don't justify it by making statements like 'hey it was shitty but it made money so yayy!!' Ghanchakkar was panned universally but one won't ever find Vidya making such statements. Seriously, if you don't believe in the film and point out the positive reception it got, then who will?

And the worst part of it is that SDR wasn't even a shitty movie as he's making it sound. This is so sucky man, I've been flustered a lot at times by people calling SDR a shitty movie yet controlled myself, and then the director of the film does this to me.😆 Why this Kolaveri Di?😭

Guyss...

plss watch this from 3:40 to 4:08...

is he talking about our Sushant???

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8ihIyNPgIc

it seems so but I don't remember how is he his ex colleague... yeah both frm EK camp...

WU: Rep says there was a period when every serial worked but now its not the same...

KP says in today's time in TV stories matter...there have been films with very big stars in 'em but the story being dull, film got flopped...at the same time you have smaller actors, like for example one of my ex colleagues, God bless him...what a level is at right now...Sushant Singh...if one gets a good film...small actor but content based film it works...so even here content or story matters...
