EKTA KAPOOR'S NEW SHOW KUMKUM BHAGYA' ON ZEE TV!

Ekta Kapoor is back with a new offering on Zee TV, this time replacing her own immensely successful show Pavitra Rishta'. Does that spell the end for the former show? Not really. Giving primetime viewing a whole new meaning, Pavitra Rishta' will now be aired from Monday-Friday at 6.30 pm on the channel.

Based loosely on Jane Austen's classic set in the British Victorian era Sense and Sensibility', 'Kumkum Bhagya' will be its Indian interpretation, following the life of a mother who runs a marriage hall and lives with the hope of seeing her two daughters - poles apart in bearing, outlook and disposition - happily married some day!

Known for making shows that are women-centric, the pivotal characters of Ekta's Kumkum Bhagya' are a bunch of strong, feisty women living together in an all-female, matriarchal family. Actor-turned-producer Shabbir Ahluwalia has been roped in to play a rock-star with a cult following on the show. The charming and talented Sriti Jha will play the elder amongst the two sisters. Ekta's hunt for the most apt faces to play the rest of the central protagonists continues.

Talking about the time shuffle amongst her projects on Zee TV, Ekta says, "Pavitra Rishta has been on air for over four years now and the journey has been most gratifying for me as a maker. After 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thi' if there is any other show which is close to my heart, then it is 'Pavitra Rishta'. Kumkum Bhagya' will open at 9 pm, drawing maximum eyeballs." She adds: "All I can say is that is it's a very passionate story of love!"

Zee TV and Ekta Kapoor (Balaji Telefims) are gearing up to bring a new show for Indian viewers.

Ekta's new show Kumkum Bhagya' will replace no other than her own long running show Pavitra Rishta'.

It is understood that due to constant low ratings of Pavitra Rishta, in spite of taking a generation leap and giving Ankita Lokhande a younger girl's role, the channel has decided to free up 9 p.m. prime time slot for Balaji Telefilms' brand new show #KumkumBhagya.

Kumkum Bhagya stars Sriti Jha (who was earlier seen in Balika Vadhu as Ganga) and Shabbir Ahluwalia (who has done couple of shows for Balaji Telefims in the past).

Pavitra Rishta loyal fans don't be sad! Pavitra Rishta won't go off air. The sources inform that Pavitra Rishta will be shifted to an earlier slot of 6:30 p.m. If the viewers like Naren - Ankita chemistry, then earlier slot may just benefit Pavitra Rishta as it won't have much of the competition at 6:30p.m.

This will be Balaji Telefilms' third on-air show on Zee TV.

The changes in time slots are expected to happen at the end of March or early April.

current track won't fit into 6:30 pm slot.
this slot is not for ladies and youngsters. Are they planning to shut down the show slowly instead of chopping off abruptly?

Newt..not living in India i don't know about television habits there, but that was my first thought...6:30 pm a lot of children will be up and watching or at least in the room...this show now is about rape and sexual harassment and murder. Hardly the kind of show for youngsters.
