SAIFTA 2013 DETAILED UPDATE:

The buzz and hype surrounding SAIFTA and Durban over the past week has been exceptional and it all culminated last night, Friday 6th September at the Durban ICC where South Africa Durban was proud to host the most amazing event ever, The SAIFTA(South African and Indian Film and Television Awards) 2013.

The atmosphere was absolutely electric. We arrived early at the venue and both us admins gained access into the fan pit which allowed us to watch as each star arrived in SAIFTA official vehicles and enter the red carpet. All of us were going absolutely crazy and when we realised that one vehicle that entered had Asha and Rithvik in it, we went even more crazy. They got off looking as amazing as ever. They smiled, greeted and met us as they made their way onto the red carpet. Rithvik looked absolutely dashing in a royal blue outfit and Purvi looked gorgeous in a black outfit.

Time went on and it was time for the show. My seating was above the vip area where the stars were and from were I sat, I could see Asha and Rithvik on one table with other television stars such as Gurmeet Choudary, Kratika Sengar, Karan Wahi, Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta. Asha and Rithvik were seated next to each other and always in conversation with each other as the night progressed.

Karan Johar the host of the event announced that a love and romantic performance was next and the amazing couples will perform this tribute to love: Asha Negi and Rithvik Dhanjani, Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta and Apurva Agnihotri and Shilpa Sakhlani/Agnihotri. The performances began with Rithvik and Asha. They looked absolutely amazing. Rithvik in a yellow kurtha and white pants and Asha in an off white outfit with a light orange inner to give it that gorgeous effect on stage. They set the stage on absolute fire with their amazing chemistry and dance moves to the beautiful song "Tum Hi Ho" with a bit of a remix to it which added to that special effect and vibe. You could feel the love and fireworks between these two amazing people. Their performance ended in each others arms.

As the night went on, it was time for Rithvik to host the Indian television award segment with Mona Singh. Mona came onto stage but Rithvik didn't and came after a while. He said he was late and was having some fun. He screamed and shouted and got the crowd going and said that for him being here in Durban is like home and urged the crowd to make some noise. Mona and him had a bit of a funny moment as she asked about his girlfriend and he said he didn't have one and said that she can choose on for him from anyone in the audience but she said no one here would want to be his girlfriend. So he went onto centre stage with his mike and asked the crowd if anyone would be his girlfriend and the camera focused for a second on Asha and then back to them as he asked the crowd but they didn't make a lot of noise. It was all for some fun. They announced the nominees for Best Indian Television program and make some noise because PAVITRA RISHTA took the award. It was accepted by Tusshar Kapoor and Rithvik made him say a few words so he thanked everyone at Balaji and the producers of Pavitra Rishta, his sister Ekta and mother Shoba. He also thanked the cast including Rithvik and Asha who have such major roles in the show. Everyone erupted when Pavitra Rishta was announced the winner
The next awards were for Best actor and actress in a television show, Hiten and Ankita were nominated for Pavitra Rishta but Gurmeet and Kratika won it. Gurmeet accepted his award and Rithvik had a joke with him and said its not fair that last year he took the Jhalak award from him and now he took the SAIFTA from him but he still loves him. They showed their friendship love for each other with their jokes. And Rithvik once again proves what a great host he is 😊

On another note, Sushant Singh Rajput's debut movie "Kai Po Che" was in the running for a few awards. He was nominated for best debut actor but that award went to Siddhart Malhotra for "Student of the year" but "Kai Po Che" won a SAIFTA for best director and actor Amit Shah was there to represent the film. We can expect great things from this film as the next set of indian awards come about which is incredible as Sushant gained his stardom through Pavitra Rishta 😊

It was truly a night of glitz, glamour and absolute fun and entertainment. A night to be treasured and remembered forever and we are so happy, privileged and overwhelmed that we attended such an incredible event and so proud that is was here in our beautiful country South Africa and beautiful city of Durban and so glad we could be apart if it to be able to share our experience and feelings with you 😊
