Rapists should be shot publicly: Hiten Tejwani

TV actor Hiten Tejwani, who is currently seen as Manav in Pavitra Rishta and also hosts crime show Savdhaan India- India Fights Back is shocked and anguished upon hearing news of the Mumbai rape case and demands rapists should be shot publicly.

"It's really shocking. It's high time something needs to be done to stop this before situation becomes worse. Yesterday (22 August 2013), I was at Delhi for a press conference of Savdhaan India and discussed about how Delhi has become a crime hub. But after arriving back to Mumbai, I heard about this horrifying incident, I am ashamed. This incident proves that even the streets of Mumbai are not safe and if incidents like this continue, woman around the country will think twice before stepping out of their houses," said Hiten Tejwani.

Even though the government has been working to create better laws to protect women, Hiten feels stringent laws are needed. "We should all come together to save our city from such incidents. I think rapists should be shot publicly in front of the victim and her family, without further delay and we should set an example, so that it sends a message across, that such things will not be tolerated," he says.

They should be publicly whipped and castrated if the woman does not die and shot publicly if the victim dies. A strong message needs to be sent to these inhuman beasts who stoop to preying on women. Extremely saddened, shocked and deeply ashamed over this incident.

not only in delhi, mumbai.. such cases are happening in small cities also...don't know when will Indian judiciary take strict steps for punishing rapists.. mere imprisonment can't stop such incidents.. 😔

While watching Crime Patrol where they show horrifying rape cases, I get so furious and frustrated that Indian girls are unsafe everywhere and the law doesnt protect them at all! We have dealt with all kinds of stalking behavior in our youth but in those days, media didnt report rape cases so much. Now its like one reported every day somewhere in India!

Nice statement. im glad to see that social media and world vision is on this topic as women sre too often taken for granted, treated like second class, and just not respected and some men think its their right to abuse women to "keep them in place"..
